  • Patent number: 8270006
Abstract: When a facsimile transmission is carried over a packet network such as the Internet that disallows the use of non-standard facilities with which the facsimile terminals may be provided, a communication apparatus that mediates the transmission blocks signals requesting the use of non-standard facilities, but replaces the blocked signals with modified data not requesting the use of such facilities. Consequently, even if a facsimile terminal sends a lengthy non-standard facilities signal, the facsimile terminal with which it is communicating will not time out due to non-reception of data, and the facsimile transmission can be completed using standard facilities.

  • Patent number: 7286496
Abstract: IP network communication device which allows facsimile communication conforming to ITU-T recommendation V.34 in the network conforming to ITU-T recommendation T.38. This IP network communication device comprises a call controller for setting the call connection of a voice channel with another communication device, a voice controller which generates packets from voice data and facsimile data, sends the packets to the other communication device, and restores voice data or facsimile data from the packets received from the other communication device, and a digital signal processor which mediates the communication of voice data and facsimile data between an accommodated terminal and the voice controller. The digital signal processor turns ON the facsimile tone detecting function, echo canceling function, and fluctuation absorption buffer function if voice data is communicated, and turns these functions OFF if facsimile data is communicated.

  • Patent number: 6594256
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to achieve reliable transfer of DTMF signals by preventing the DTMF signals from being doubly received by a receiver due to the DTMF signals being transferred as sound signals to the receiver through a channel for call when transferring the DTMF signals through a channel for control. A communication apparatus in accordance with the present invention is configured to send out a silence to the channel for call when a DTMF signal is transferred so as to prevent the DTMF signal from being sent out as a sound signal onto the channel for call. Furthermore, the communication apparatus is also configured to delete a DTMF signal stored in an FIFO to thereby prevent the DTMF signal from being sent out onto the channel for call.
