  • Publication number: 20130004911
Abstract: Proposed is a method and apparatus for forming an orthodontic bracket for use with an orthodontic archwire involving shaping a length of material to form at least two enlarged portions and a base member, the base member being intermediate two arm members and the respective enlarged portions having a thickness that is thicker than the thickness of the base member; bending the length of material at the respective enlarged portions; and coining the respective enlarged portions, such that portions of the arm members define a channel to receive a portion of the orthodontic archwire.

  • Patent number: 5918495
Abstract: A multistage gear-rolling apparatus of the present invention comprises a roller squeezing apparatus including a roughing roller die and a finishing roller die disposed coaxially and connected in series in an axial direction of said roughing roller die. The roughing roller die is used for carrying out a hot rough-rolling step. The finishing roller die is used for a warm finish-rolling step. Thus, immediately after the hot rough-rolling step, the warm finish-rolling step can be carried out without a reset of workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5824168
Abstract: According to the present invention, in a heating step, an outer circumferential portion of a workpiece having a disk shape is heated to high temperatures. In a hot rough-rolling step, the outer circumferential portion of the heated workpiece is formed by use of a roller die to generate a rolled-gear having teeth. In a warm finish-rolling step, the teeth of the rolled-gear are finish-rolled by use of the finishing roller die. The starting temperature T.sub.1 of the hot rough-rolling step is set in the range of from 850.degree. through 1100.degree. C., the terminating temperature of the hot rough-rolling step T.sub.2 is set in the range of from 500.degree. through 700.degree. C. The starting temperature T.sub.3 of the warm finish-rolling step is set in the range of from 400.degree. through 700.degree. C., and the terminating temperature of the warm finish-rolling step T.sub.4 is set in the range of from 200.degree. through 650.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5690756
Abstract: A method for producing cast iron gears includes the steps of heating a blank composed of cast iron and having a teeth forming part to such a temperature that at least the teeth forming part is at least austenitized, and hot rolling the teeth forming part of the blank by pressing projecting teeth of a rolling machine against the teeth forming part which is in a hot state and within an austenitized range, while cooling the blank, thereby generating a teeth part in the teeth forming part of the blank. Hot rolling with a low plastic deformation resistance prevents lowering of strength due to the exposure of graphite particles of cast iron and occurrence of quenching cracks and rolling cracks, and improves gear accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5632827
Abstract: A aluminum alloy in the form of bulk includes an aluminum matrix and carbon particles having an average particle size of 100 nm or less and dispersed in the aluminum matrix in an amount of 1 to 40 atomic % with respect to the total atoms constituting the aluminum alloy. The aluminum alloy is produced by preparing a raw material comprising aluminum and carbon as components and forming an aluminum alloy by inserting the raw material into a cavity formed by a set of dies and applying repeatedly plastic deformation to the raw material while maintaining the temperature of the raw material in the range of from 100 to 400.degree. • Patent number: 5494541
Abstract: A process for producing an aluminum alloy in the form of mass includes: preparing as a material to be formed a mixed powder of aluminum and at least one kind of metal or non-metallic substance selected from the elements belonging to Groups 4a, 4b, 5a, 6a, 7a and 8a of the periodic table and boron, or a compact or a cast material formed of the mixed powder; placing the material to be formed in a die, and performing plastic deformation repeatedly on the material to be formed at 100.degree. to 400.degree. in an inert atmosphere while retaining at least part of the material to be formed in a confined state, so as to cause diffusion reaction between phases constituting the material to be formed, thereby forming the quasi-stable phase composed mainly of amorphous phases and/or supersaturated solid solution phases.

  • Patent number: 4900459
Abstract: Disclosed are a metal processing lubricating oil composition and a process for producing the same. A metal processing lubricating oil composition according to this invention comprises mineral oil, synthetic oil or a mixture thereof, and phosphoric ester and orthophosphoric acid mixed and heated in the mineral oil, synthetic oil or mixture thereof. The lubricating oil composition gets rid of the tiresome pre-treatment associated with the conventional lubricating method, and exhibits a high seizure prevention performance in cold plastic working only by coating it on workpieces. The lubricating oil composition may further comprise metallic phosphate to suppress corrosivity against ferrous materials.
