  • Patent number: 6729717
Abstract: A ring-shaped packing is fitted into a annular groove surrounding an aperture through which ink is supplied to a head unit, and a sealant is filled around the packing. By bringing the packing into contact with the surface of a filter covering a supply hole and by pressing the head unit, the sealant makes intimate contact with the head unit while the end of the packing is kept in intimate contact with the filter, thereby sealing the supply hole. Then a frame and the head unit are bonded to each other using an UV adhesive.

  • Patent number: 6685299
Abstract: An ink jet head includes rows of pressure chambers, a common ink chamber, and a circulation channel. Filter holes are provided along a fluid channel connecting the common ink chamber with the pressure chambers. The common ink chamber is formed broader at a region separated from, and with a weaker mechanical stiffness than, the portion that is connected to the pressure chambers. The common ink chamber and the circulation channel are elongated in the direction that the pressure chamber rows extend. The circulation channel and the common ink chamber are in fluid communication with each other at one lengthwise end and both have an opening at the opposite lengthwise end to enable connection to the external ink supply.

  • Patent number: 6672715
Abstract: An actuator 120 is formed from nine piezoelectric sheets stacked in this order to give a laminated configuration. A common electrode 25 is formed on the upper surface of each piezoelectric sheet 122, 121b, 121d, 121f, 121g. A plurality of drive electrodes 24 are formed the upper surface of each piezoelectric sheet 121a, 121c, 121e, 123. The common electrodes 25, a cavity plate 14, and a cover plate 44 are all maintained at the same potential (0V). The lowermost piezoelectric sheet 122 formed with the common electrode 25 is located between the cavity plate 14 and the lowermost drive electrodes 24 on the piezoelectric sheet 121a. In this configuration, an ejection voltage applied to the drive electrodes 24 is reliably prevented from being applied to ink in a pressure chamber and/or the cavity plate 14, whereby reliable ink ejection is possible.
