Patent number: 7746499Abstract: A color image processing system outputs data to a color image forming unit for forming a color visible image by overlapping a plurality of color developers. The color image processing system includes a print data receiving unit that receives print data, a bitmap data producing unit that produces bitmap data having colors that correspond to the plurality of color developers from the print data, a data size determining unit that determines a data size of the bitmap data, and a degrading unit. When the data size determined by the data size determining unit is greater than a predetermined size, the degrading unit produces bitmap data having fewer colors, wherein a predetermined color is removed from the colors corresponding to the plurality of color developers.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2004Date of Patent: June 29, 2010Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Atsushi Kashihara

Patent number: 7193744Abstract: Conventionally, when counterfeit judgment processing by using electronic watermark is performed in a printer driver, a printing speed is lowered due to heavy load. To solve the problem, in the printer driver, first, it is judged whether or not image data indicated by input print information is in high quality. If the image data is in high quality, it is judged whether or not the image data represents a particular image. If the image data represents the particular image, predetermined processing is performed on the image data. This minimizes the execution of counterfeit judgment processing and reduces the load.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2001Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Atsushi Kashihara

Patent number: 6271868Abstract: When a multiple-color image is printed by electrophotography unwanted spaces are produces between different colors. These spaces are attributed to non-development of toner caused by the influence of an electric field at the boundary of an electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive drum. Accordingly, when data conversion is converted from two-bit data of a bitmap to eight-bit data that are used for modulating a light signal, a pixel of interest and the neighboring 9×9 pixels are stored and the state thereof is determined. If the pixel of interest is a white pixel and the neighboring pixels are all non-white pixels, then the pixel of interest is not left at a value corresponding to white, but is converted to a value corresponding to a potential that will not develop toner. The photosensitive drum is irradiated with a laser based upon the data resulting from the conversion.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1997Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Atsushi Kashihara

Patent number: 5875044Abstract: An image forming apparatus and method produce, when 600 dpi image data is generated from 300 dpi image data, interpolated data of a pixel of interest by a two-value logical operation in a case where the image data about the periphery of the pixel of interest appertains to binary representation. When the image data is judged to appertain to an image of multivalued representation, the interpolated data of the pixel of interest is produced by a numerical operation. As a result, a 600 dpi picture of the same size can be printed and recorded in such a manner that outline sharpness and smoothness, which are characteristics possessed by a two-value image, are maintained at portions of the input 300 dpi image data that are two-value images while smoothness of the grayscale is maintained at portions of the input 300 dpi image data that are halftone images.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1997Date of Patent: February 23, 1999Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kaoru Seto, Atsushi Kashihara, Takashi Kawana, Manabu Takebayashi

Patent number: 5850295Abstract: The present invention is structured in such a manner that, when multivalued pixel data which constitutes a multivalued image are supplied, a predetermined number of interpolated pixel data are generated and inserted between the supplied and successive pixels. At this time, the gradient of each of the interpolated pixels is calculated and determined in accordance with the gradient of the supplied neighboring multivalued pixels. Thus, the image is recorded on a recording medium in accordance with image data including the interpolated pixel. As a result, print information processed so as to be printed by a low resolution printer can be printed with the same size and high quality as when printed by a high resolution printer according to the present invention.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1994Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Seiji Uchiyama, Atsushi Kashihara, Kaoru Seto, Hiroshi Mano, Tetsuo Saito, Takashi Kawana

Patent number: 5828396Abstract: An information recording apparatus for recording a color image with improved resolving power and image quality is disclosed. Color image data are temporarily stored in a memory and compared with predetermined patterns in a wide reference area. If they coincide, indicating the presence of a contour of a pattern, an object pixel is modified to finer dots, in order to smooth the contour. There are also provided patterns indicating the features of dither images, in order to identify whether the color image data correspond to such dither image, and to avoid erroneous smoothing process that deteriorates the image quality of such dither image.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1993Date of Patent: October 27, 1998Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kaoru Seto, Atsushi Kashihara, Manabu Takebayashi

Patent number: 5652660Abstract: Binary data (VDO) developed to a dot pattern are sequentially stored in line memories (1-9). A processing circuit (43) is constituted by a logic calculation circuit, and determines an edge portion of an image or a halftone image on the basis of 11.times.9 pixel data in shift registers (34-43). When the edge portion of an image is determined, data of a pixel of interest is converted to data that can print a smooth edge portion. Changed data (VDOM) is converted again according to the type of toner. The converted signal is supplied to a laser driver of a printer, and a printing operation is performed by scanning a laser. A resolution setting unit (1700) receives a resolution setting command from an external apparatus (1300), and sets a designated resolution in a printer (1200) according to the resolution setting command.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1995Date of Patent: July 29, 1997Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kaoru Seto, Kiyoshi Kanaiwa, Michio Itoh, Hiroshi Mano, Hiromichi Yamada, Atsushi Kashihara, Takashi Kawana, Hiroshi Atobe, Tetsuo Saito
