  • Patent number: 10604101
Abstract: An airbag apparatus includes an inflator, which generates inflation gas, and an airbag, which is supplied with the inflation gas from the inflator. The airbag is arranged in the seat back of a front seat. The airbag includes a lower inflation portion and an upper inflation portion. The lower inflation portion is inflated by the inflation gas only inside the lower part of the seat back. The upper inflation portion is arranged inside the seat back and above the lower inflation portion. The upper inflation portion is inflated above the lower inflation portion by the inflation gas, breaks the covering, which constitutes the outer shell of the seat back, and is inflated outside the seat back through the broken part of the covering.

  • Patent number: 9487178
Abstract: A head-protecting airbag device includes an airbag that is inflatable in such a manner as to separate an inboard side wall and an outboard side wall while unfolding downward from a housing. The airbag includes a front inflatable shielding region that covers an inboard side of a window and includes a sub inflatable region that is inflatable later than the main inflatable region. The sub inflatable region includes a supportive inflatable region that is supported by a vehicle body member which is disposed below a beltline. The airbag is stored in the housing such that a front lower corner of the sub inflatable region is folded inward on a crease extending obliquely rearward and downward from the front edge to the lower edge of the airbag before the airbag is subjected to a vertical size reducing folding that brings the lower edge as unfolded flatly close to the upper edge.

  • Patent number: 9211863
Abstract: A head-protecting airbag device has an airbag deployable downward from a housing area. The airbag includes front and rear window cover portions for covering front and rear windows and a pillar cover portion for covering a middle pillar located between the windows. The pillar cover portion includes in the upper region an inlet port for taking in an inflation gas from one of the window cover portions. The pillar cover portion further includes an upper portion extending in a front and rear direction from the inlet port, and a lower portion which communicates with the upper portion at an end of the upper portion facing away from the inlet port and turns around downward from the upper portion and extends in a front and rear direction beneath the upper portion. The leading end of the lower portion located generally beneath the inlet port is closed.

  • Patent number: 9145103
Abstract: An airbag is housed in a housing area in the shape of a folded-up body which is obtained as a result of folding the airbag by bringing the lower edge close to the upper edge and elongated in a front and rear direction. A displacement-preventing means is provided at a peripheral portion of the airbag constituting an outer peripheral edge of the airbag for preventing a tape member wrapped around the folded-up body from supping against the folded-up body. The means is formed at an upper end region of the peripheral portion which will be an upper edge of the airbag at deployment and at least either in front of or at the rear of the tape member. The means is comprised of a recessed region or a projecting region that is formed on the airbag itself so as to be engageable with an end edge of the tape member.

  • Patent number: 8727373
Abstract: In a curtain shield airbag mounting structure for mounting a curtain shield airbag to a side upper portion of a vehicle body, the curtain shield airbag includes an airbag main body and a resin case which holds the airbag main body. A base end portion of a folded-back portion of the airbag main body is disposed to oppose a boundary portion between a rear pillar garnish and a ceiling member, or in the vicinity thereof. A guide wall portion is provided at a rear end portion of the resin guide case. The guide wall portion opposes a rear end side of a base end portion of the folded-back portion and prevents the folded-back portion from colliding with the rear pillar garnish when the folded-back portion opens while pushing out a part of the ceiling member.
