  • Publication number: 20100289984
Abstract: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal panel in which liquid crystal is held in a cell between a first substrate and second substrate opposed to each other, an illumination device which is placed on a side of the first substrate of the liquid crystal panel; a polarization layer containing a dichroic dye that has lyotropic liquid crystal properties which is formed by application on a surface of the first substrate of the liquid crystal panel that is opposite from the liquid crystal; and a condenser lens which condenses light from the illumination device to an interior of the cell, and/or a resin layer which protects the polarization layer, which are disposed on a top surface of the polarization layer.

  • Publication number: 20100053500
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display device where there are fewer moiré effects between lenticular lenses and the backlight. The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device where the arrangement or form of lenticular lenses 1 varies in waveform so that the center line of the lenses, the width of the lenses, and the height of the lenses vary in the case where light emitted from a backlight 59 is collected into openings 15 for transmitting light by means of lenticular lenses 1.

  • Publication number: 20090316083
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a technology for stably forming condenser lenses in a liquid crystal display device having condenser lenses, in which the lenses are not affected by roughness and organic contamination on the surface of the substrate which may be caused by polishing and handling. The liquid crystal display device according to the present invention is provided with: a backlight module 510 for emitting light; a TFT substrate 507 provided on the backlight module 510 side; a color filter substrate 502 provided on the viewer side and a liquid crystal panel having a liquid crystal layer 504 provided between the TFT substrate and the color filter substrate; and a number of condenser lenses provided between the backlight module 510 and the liquid crystal panel. A transparent, flat layer 508 is formed on the outer surface of the TFT substrate 507 before forming the condenser lenses 509, and a number of condenser lenses 509 are formed on the transparent, flat layer 508.

  • Publication number: 20090021675
Abstract: In a transflective liquid crystal panel having an in-cell retarder, for improving a layer structure of poor adhesion, an alignment film for the retardation layer is not applied to a portion of disposing a sealing material at the main surface of a substrate of the liquid crystal panel in the step of applying the alignment film to the main surface.

  • Patent number: 7471380
Abstract: A rubbing angle measuring equipment of the invention includes an light source unit, a measuring optical system, an imaging means, and an image evaluation means in which the measuring optical system is adapted such that a light from the light source unit passes by way of an illumination optical system and a polarizer to a rubbed measuring object and further passes by way of an analyzer and a focusing optical system to the imaging means, and the surface of the measuring object is focused to the imaging means, and in which image signals obtained by the imaging means are transmitted to the image evaluation means where signals having an intense periodicity in the image are detected, to measure the rubbing angle of the measuring object in a nondestructive manner, within a short period and at a high accuracy of 0.1° or more.
