  • Patent number: 9025930
Abstract: A chapter information creation apparatus calculates, from field-of-view information, a position of a video image having a narrow field of view whose ratio to the size of a field of view of a video image having the widest field of view, among a plurality of hierarchically-encoded video images, is less than or equal to a threshold value. Chapter information is then created if a moved distance over a fixed period is greater than or equal to a threshold value. Chapter information is created for other video images if, based on a result of analyzing the video image having widest field of view, a change in that video image is detected. Chapter information for the video image of each layer included in video image data obtained by hierarchically encoding video images having different fields of view can thereby be created using a simple method.

  • Patent number: 8675140
Abstract: Hierarchically-encoded video image data and audio data associated with a predetermined encoded layer of the hierarchically-encoded video image data are received, and the audio-associated encoded layer with which the audio data is associated is specified from among a plurality of encoded layers of the hierarchically-encoded video image data. Then, the ratio of the field of view of a decoded video image of an encoded layer to be played back to the field of view of a decoded video image of the audio-associated encoded layer is calculated. A prestored audio correction amount is multiplied by the calculated ratio, and the resulting new audio correction amount is used to correct the audio data.

  • Patent number: 8643785
Abstract: A video processing apparatus determines whether a video signal of a predetermined resolution is a pseudo-resolution video signal generated from a video signal of resolution lower than the predetermined resolution. The video processing apparatus generates a first frequency histogram relating to a video signal of a first resolution among a plurality of video signals which are identical in contents and different from one another in resolution and a second frequency histogram relating to a video signal of a second resolution which is lower than the first resolution, compares the first frequency histogram with the second frequency histogram, compares a similarity between the first frequency histogram and the second frequency histogram with a predetermined threshold value, and determines, if the similarity is equal to or less than the predetermined threshold value, that the video signal of the first resolution is a pseudo-resolution video signal.

  • Publication number: 20110097059
Abstract: A video playback apparatus capable of adaptively setting a speed of slow playback in accordance with a frame rate of video content that is being played back and performing slow playback suitable for the video content, and a method for controlling the apparatus are provided. A playback speed determining unit refers to playback speed information for slow playback that is predetermined in accordance with values of video frame rates. The playback speed determining unit determines a playback speed used for performing slow playback on video that is currently being played back by using a frame rate of the video that is currently being played back and the playback speed information for slow playback. A decoding unit executes selection and interpolation of output frames of video data that is currently being played back and adjustment of output timing so that the video is played back at the determined slow playback speed.
