    Abstract: An image recording apparatus includes a recording head having a plurality of element arrays in a scanning direction, a driving device, a transporting mechanism and a selecting device. Each element array includes a plurality of recording elements arranged with a predetermined spacing in a direction approximately perpendicular to the scanning direction. The driving device drives the recording elements of the recording head. The transporting mechanism moves the recording head relative to the recording medium in the direction perpendicular to the scanning direction. The selecting device selects between a first recording mode for performing the recording operation with high resolution and high precision and a second recording mode for performing the recording operation with high speed. When the first mode is selected, the recording head moves to record additional dot lines formed by the recording elements of each element array between initial dot lines formed by the same.

    Abstract: A reference pattern is printed on one of the printing regions as the printing head moves in one direction, and a comparison pattern, which is to become a pattern identical to the reference pattern, is printed on the other of the printing regions as the printing head moves in both directions. A judging process is provided in which the comparison pattern is compared with the reference pattern so as to judge whether the two patterns are identical or not. The relative positional relation is determined to be proper if the two patters have been judged to be identical.

    Abstract: Hereby established is a method of disinfection by ozone which is safe, clean, more reliable, and more efficient than prior methods. The method comprises a step of calculating the amount of ozone which would be required to solely disinfect bacteria if there were no co-existing materials, a step of calculating the amount of ozone which will be consumed by actual co-existing materials and a step of applying the total value of the two ozone amounts in proper forms, such as, gas or liquid, etc., preferably in the form of aqueous solution, to the object to be disinfected. This method can be consistently adopted for disinfection on very wide varieties of bacteria.

    Abstract: The shift register 43Y is written with four bits of data for recording dots of yellow color, the shift register 43M is written with four bits of data for recording dots of magenta color, the shift register 43C is written with four bits of data for recording dots of cyan color, and the shift register 43Bk is written with four bits of data for recording dots of black color. The recording head 29 is scanned relative to the recording paper 33 in dot intervals D in a scanning direction. In the recording head 29, the recording units 30Y, 30M, 30C, and 30Bk for recording the four colors are aligned in the scanning direction with an interval P equal to a sum of one dot interval D and a multiple of four dot intervals 4D. With this arrangement, the shift registers 43 are supplied with the four bits of data at timings shifted from one another by an amount corresponding to one recording timing period T.

    Abstract: A waveform processing circuit for a pulse generator provided between the pulse generator and a motor control circuit, comprises a frequency dividing circuit and a control signal generation circuit. The frequency dividing circuit outputs, on the basis of an A-phase pulse signal and a B-phase pulse signal outputted from the pulse generator, a pulse signal having a duty ratio of 1:1 and being inverted in response to rise of the A-phase pulse signal and a pulse signal having a duty ratio of 1:1 and being inverted in response to fall of the A-phase pulse. The control signal generation circuit generates, on the basis of these two pulse signals, a traveling amount signal and a direction discrimination signal. Thus, the motor control circuit carries out, on the basis of the traveling amount signal and the direction discrimination signal, motor control without undergoing the influence of a duty ratio of the pulse generated from the pulse generator.

    Abstract: In a dot printer having a print head, a moving mechanism for laterally reciprocating the print head relative to a recording medium, a driving circuit for driving the print head, a memory for storing basic dot patterns, and a controller for reading a basic dot pattern from the memory that corresponds to input data, a printing pattern is produced by processing the basic dot pattern and controlling the moving mechanism and the driving circuit according to the printing dot pattern to print the data on the recording medium. A reference dot pattern is produced by replicating n vertical lines of the same dot arrangement as that of the dot lines of the basic dot pattern. The controller produces the printing dot pattern by omitting m dots following the head dot of each dot line, and each successive remaining dot, of the reference dot pattern consisting of successive dots.
