    Abstract: The present invention provides an organic electroluminescent device that can keep a stable luminescent characteristic for a long period. An organic electroluminescent device includes at least an anode 2, a charge generating layer 3, a luminescent layer 4 and a cathode 5 in this order. The charge generating layer 3 has an area 3a containing an electron transporting material at the anode side, and an area 3b containing a hole transporting material and a material capable of forming a charge transfer complex with the hole transporting material by an oxidation-reduction reaction at the cathode side, the hole transporting material and the material being laminated or mixed. The hole transporting material is in a radical cation state.

The cathode can be formed of a material that corrodes little. The light-emitting body therefore extends the life of a light-emitting device and therefore the life of a light-emitting display.

A discharge flow rate of vapor per unit area in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle opening is made to be maximum in a portion at a nozzle width direction position corresponding to a substrate edge position rather than a central part of the nozzle opening and a plurality of partition plates providing directivity to the flow of vapor are arranged inside the nozzle opening.

The light emitting device provides an organic electroluminescent (EL) device in which electrodes and a luminescent layer are formed, a diffraction grating or a zone plate, and a filter. Light emitted from the luminescent layer transmits through the diffraction grating or the zone plate, which is formed with a designated grating pitch, or is reflected at the diffraction grating or the zone plate. With this, the transmitting or reflecting light is controlled to be in a designated angle region. And when the light is transmitted through the filter, light having different color tone and chromaticity from those of the light emitted from the luminescent layer is extracted.
