Abstract: A liquid crystal display element (10) in accordance with the present invention includes: a pair of substrates (1), at least one of which is a flexible substrate; a liquid crystal layer (3) sealed in a gap between the pair of substrates (1); and spacer members (4), provided between the pair of substrates (1), which sustain the gap between the pair of substrates (1). A thickness of the liquid crystal layer (3) falls in a range of 93% to 98% of heights of the spacer members (4) while no pressure is applied to the spacer members. Adjacent spacer members (4) are provided at intervals of less than 400 ?m.

Abstract: An emulsion polymerized vinylidene chloride copolymer latex having polymerized therein vinylidene chloride and one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers copolymerizable therewith. The latex contains both an anionic and a nonionic surfactant. The latex remains stable following addition of about 2 percent by weight of a cationic antistatic agent on a polymer solids basis.

Abstract: The process of forming a dye image by developing an image-exposed silver halide photographic emulsion layer by an aromatic primary amine color developing agent in the presence of the yellow dye forming coupler shown by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents an aromatic group, R.sup.2 represents an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group, and Z represents the non-metallic atom or atoms necessary for forming a 4-membered ring, a 5-membered ring or a 6-membered ring together with ##STR2## in the above formula. A photographic element containing such a yellow-forming coupler.

Abstract: A method of forming color photographic images which comprises developing image-exposed photographic silver halide emulsion layer with a primary aromatic amino color developing agent in the presence of a yellow color forming coupler represented by the following general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or an acyl group; X.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; X.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or an acyl group; Y represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; and Q represents a residue of a yellow color forming coupler, e.g., a yellow coupler in which one hydrogen atom attached to the active methylene group of the coupler is eliminated. These yellow color forming couplers provide yellow color images having superior properties.
