  • Patent number: 9304466
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a first abnormality detection portion detects an abnormality in a fixing portion based on a change rate of a temperature detected by a temperature detecting portion and a first reference change rate that is set in advance. A first temperature control portion performs a temperature control of a heat source by a first feedback control method based on the temperature detected by the temperature detecting portion. A second temperature control portion performs a temperature control of the heat source by a second feedback control method based on the temperature detected by the temperature detecting portion, the second feedback control method being smaller in temperature change rate than the first feedback control method. A detection prohibiting portion prohibits the abnormality detection by the first abnormality detection portion during the temperature control performed by the second temperature control portion.

  • Patent number: 9181053
Abstract: A paper-feeding device, during a paper leading edge detection interval that includes an expected point in time of arrival of a paper leading edge at a paper sensor installation location, and during a paper trailing edge detection interval that includes an expected point in time of passage of a paper trailing edge, allows the signal level of a paper detection signal that is outputted to a main body section to fluctuate on the basis of an actual output value of a paper sensor, and during a transition interval from the paper leading edge detection interval to the paper trailing edge detection interval, locks the paper detection signal that is outputted to the main body section, to the signal level at the end of the paper leading edge detection interval.

  • Patent number: 8991809
Abstract: A post-processing apparatus includes a processing tray, a conveyance portion, a staple unit, an operation portion, a mode switching portion, a cover, and an open/close detection portion. The staple unit, which has an automatic mode and a manual mode as processing modes for stapling processing, executes stapling processing for a paper sheet conveyed to the processing tray by the conveyance portion in the automatic mode, and executes stapling processing for a paper sheet stacked on the processing tray by a user in the manual mode. The cover is attached in an openable and closable manner so as to cover the operation portion when closed, and expose the operation portion when opened. While the open/close detection portion is detecting that the cover is opened, when the operation portion has received an operation for switching to the manual mode, the mode switching portion switches the automatic mode to the manual mode.

  • Patent number: 7266316
Abstract: A machine (1) has a sheet size determiner (111) to determine the length of a recording sheet. A speed setter (112) sets the transport speed of a fixing roller in a transfer unit and the transport speed of a discharge roller at a discharge port. A fixing roller driver (1311) drives the fixing roller at the transport speed of the fixing roller, and a discharge roller driver (1312) drives the discharge roller at the transport speed of the discharge roller. The transport speed setter (112) sets the transport speed of the fixing roller higher than the transport speed of the discharge roller, and sets a difference between these speeds in relation to the length of the recording sheet determined by the sheet. This arrangement prevents a sheet jam and discharge of a recording sheet in an undulated state.
