  • Publication number: 20020144005
Abstract: When electronic mail with firmware attached is received at a data communication apparatus, determination is made whether it corresponds to firmware data of a write process allowable state. In the case of write process allowable data, the message is downloaded from a mail server to a printer controller. Then, derived firmware is transmitted to an image formation apparatus. A firmware rewrite permission is obtained. When the firmware attached to the message does not attain a write process allowable state, waiting is conducted for reception of write process allowable firmware with the data left in the mail server. As a result, a data communication apparatus is provided that can rewrite firmware appropriately independent of a transmitted and received order of divided firmware.

  • Publication number: 20020143884
Abstract: When electronic mail indicating termination of firmware rewriting has arrived from an image formation apparatus that has received divided firmware, the transmitter side of the firmware determines whether rewriting has ended properly or not from the mail. When rewriting has ended properly, electronic mail with the next divided firmware attached is transmitted based on the division number, divisor value, machine type and module indicated in a Subject field. When rewriting has not ended properly, the same firmware indicated in the Subject field is transmitted again. Accordingly, divided firmware can be transmitted appropriately. Thus, firmware of a large size can be transmitted appropriately even in the case where the size set at the mail server is restricted.

  • Publication number: 20020141419
Abstract: New firmware is attached to electronic mail from a computer of the service center to be transmitted towards a monitor device at the user side. The monitor device of the user side reads out the electronic mail from a mail server and downloads the electronic mail into its own apparatus. Then, the firmware is derived from the electronic mail and transmitted to an image formation apparatus that is the subject of transmission. The image formation apparatus receiving the firmware writes the new firmware into the flash ROM that is the subject of rewriting. Accordingly, increase of the communication traffic can be prevented and the load on the mail server can be alleviated in the case where the same firmware for a plurality of devices connected on a network is to be altered using an electronic mail system.

  • Publication number: 20020061966
Abstract: A hot melt composition containing, as essential ingredients, a specific high-molecular weight styrene block copolymer, a specific polyphenylene ether resin and a viscosity adjuster. The hot melt composition permits an easy assembling and sealing between a plurality of members. More particularly, it is possible for the hot melt composition to be melted and applied to one member in advance of the assembling work, such that the one member with the hot melt composition already applied thereto can be carried into a work site or a work line and simply joined to another member at those places. Further advantageously, the members joined or assembled via the hot melt composition can be disassembled without difficulty, which enables recycling of the used members.

  • Publication number: 20020002610
Abstract: When a trouble has occurred in any one or more of copying machines, a data terminal (i.e. an equipment management apparatus) transmits to the computer of the management center the trouble data and the management data about the copying machines in which no trouble has occurred. Therefore, the management data about a plurality of copying machines can be efficiently transmitted to the computer of the management center. The copying machine of which management data is to be transmitted together with the trouble data is determined in accordance with the count number remaining until the time for the next regular maintenance comes. As a result, the management data about the copying machine which is scheduled to have regular maintenance in a near future can be transmitted to the computer of the management center prior to other data. The management center can know which copying machine is scheduled to have maintenance in a near future. As a result, a service engineer can be efficiently dispatched.

  • Patent number: 6316279
Abstract: In order to provide a high mechanical strength and a progressive performance index resulting from an improved electric conductivity, a thermoelectric semiconductor is made by arranging a plurality of extruded bar-shaped thermoelectric semiconductor materials B1 in a bundle. The resulting bar-shaped thermoelectric semiconductor materials B1 are sintered and integrated concurrently by applying a force to each bar-shaped thermoelectric material B1 along a direction L2 perpendicular to an axis L1 thereof. This causes flows of materials, thereby further orientating cleavage planes which causes an advanced orientation effect.

  • Publication number: 20010029533
Abstract: A system, a method, a program product, and an apparatus for managing equipments are provided in which the management can properly be carried out even if a series of data are received in a reverse of the order of transmission. Upon receiving from a center a current mail carrying a command, a data terminal 1 for monitoring a copier compares the date-1 of the current mail with the date-2 of the latest of the previous mails carrying the same type of commands (S803). When the date-1 is later than the date-2, an action determined by the command carried in the current mail is performed (S811). If the date-1 is not later than the date-2, the current mail is discarded and the discarding is informed to the center (S821).

  • Patent number: 5516390
Abstract: A lighting fixture body and a lens, both formed of plastic which generates gas when heated, are bonded together, using a hot melt adhesive with adsorbent mixed therein, thereby preventing foams from residing in the interface between the plastic materials and the hot melt adhesive. The hot melt adhesive is mainly composed of styrene-ethylene-butylene block copolymer, and molecular sieve or other adsorbent having adsorbing cavities is added to the hot melt adhesive. After the hot melt adhesive is filled in the sealing grooves of the lighting fixture body, the anchoring parts of the lens are set in the hot melt adhesive and fastened mechanically with spring pegs. The hot melt adhesive solidifies in the sealing grooves, thereby fixing the lighting fixture body and the lens together.
