  • Patent number: 6886050
Abstract: A communication terminal device autonomously activates a specific function predetermined by a host device even when the communication terminal device is off-line when the power turns on. The specific function is a function such as an offline response function or auto-status back (ASB) function for automatically reporting a status of the communication terminal device to the host device. A status monitoring command is provided. During normal operation, the host device sends this status monitoring command to the communication terminal device to store specific data in nonvolatile memory in the communication terminal device. When power turns on, the communication terminal device reads the content of this nonvolatile memory to automatically initialize the particular functions indicated by the stored content, such as an ASB or off-line response function.

  • Patent number: 6447186
Abstract: Printer control prevents a user from pulling on printed roll paper before the printed form is cut from the roll while still providing the printed paper quickly to the user. When a paper sensor detects the trailing end of printed portion of the paper, that portion of paper is held by an ejection roller pair to temporarily stop the end of the paper from being ejected from the ejection opening. Paper slack in the paper transportation path is then determined. A paper cutting and ejection roller driving sequence is then executed based on the slack determination to provide the printed portion of the paper to the user through the opening.

  • Patent number: 6315390
Abstract: A line ink jet head having a plurality of ink jet head units in a staggered pattern enables the staggered ink jet head units to be easily precisely positioned to each other. The line ink jet head has ink jet head units that are staggered to each other in line with the ink nozzles disposed to the first and second head mounting surfaces on both sides of a head unit mounting layer. If the head unit mounting surface is precisely formed, the ink jet heads can be precisely positioned in staggered rows by simply bonding the ink jet head units to respective mounting surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5818473
Abstract: A drive method of an ink-jet head is provided in which a diaphragm is deformed by means of electrostatic force to eject an ink droplet from a nozzle so as to prevent a residual charge from being created between a diaphragm and an individual electrode. The method has first and second drive modes. In a first drive mode a voltage of a first polarity is applied between a diaphragm of the inkjet head (common electrode) and an individual electrode to cause the diaphragm to be deformed and an ink droplet to be ejected from a nozzle. In the second drive mode a voltage of a second polarity opposite to the first polarity is applied between the diaphragm and the individual electrode to cause the diaphragm to be deformed and an ink droplet to be ejected from the nozzle at least once for each operation of ink droplet ejection performed in the first drive mode.
