Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for unrestricted intra content to improve video quality of real-time encoding. An example method may include receiving, at a logic gate included within an encoding pipeline of a video encoder, a first transform unit (TU) of a first size. The example method may also include receiving, at the logic gate, a second transform unit (TU) of a second size, wherein the first size and the second size are different. The example method may also include generating, using the logic gate, a first forward transform of the first TU and a second forward transform of the second TU.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to generating visual quality metrics for encoded video frames. A method may include generating respective first visual quality metrics for pixels of an encoded video frame; generating respective second visual quality metrics for the pixels, the respective first visual quality metrics and the respective second visual quality metrics indicative of estimated human perceptions of the encoded video frame; generating a pixel block-based weight for the respective first visual quality metrics; generating a frame-based weight for the respective second visual quality metrics; and generating, based on the respective first visual quality metrics, the pixel block-based weight, the respective second visual quality metrics, and the frame-based weight, a human visual score indicative of a visual quality of the encoded video frame.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems may provide for technology that processes portions of video frames in different hardware pipes. More particularly, implementations relate to technology that provides splitting of a frame into columns or rows and processing each of these in different hardware pipes and managing the dependency in hardware. Such operations may achieve this support while at the same time providing enough flexibility to use these pipes independently when the higher performance is not required.
