  • Publication number: 20150245398
Abstract: A method for transferring a communication session between a source user device and a target user device in a communication network, where the communication session is established between the source user device and a server is proposed. An identifier of a user device is determined. A session modification request is then sent from the source user device to the server, where the request includes the identifier of the target user device. A capability of the target user device to handle the communication session is then checked. Next, if the target user device is capable of handling the communication session a further communication session between the server and the target user device is established.

  • Publication number: 20150134783
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing data to a network terminal. A network node receives information relating to a first instance of a node concurrently runs a second instance of the client that emulates the first instance. Using the second instance, the network node generates a request for data required by the first instance. Before receiving a request for data generated by the first instance, the network node sends the request for data required by the first instance to a remote server and receives a response that includes the required data. The required data is then sent to the network terminal. The advantage of this is that the request for data required is generated before the network node receives a request from the network terminal. This allows the request to be handled more quickly.

  • Patent number: 9026084
Abstract: The present invention relates to enhanced privacy protection in a telecommunication network in which unique virtual phone numbers are used that are called party specific, i.e., different virtual phone numbers are used for the relation of different communication between a subscriber (101) of the privacy service and other parties (102). That is, if a given virtual number is called from a different number that was assigned to, then this call will be rejected, but the call will be set up if the given virtual phone number is called from a phone number that was assigned to. In this way, the privacy is better protected.

  • Publication number: 20140334309
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and network node (10) for controlling a plurality of flows of application data in a radio network. The method comprises a step of detecting (11) the plurality of flows and a cost measure associated with each flow. The cost measure is an indication of an amount of radio resources required for supplying an amount of application data to an end-user of the flow. The method also comprises monitoring (12) key performance indicators associated with the plurality of flows. A key performance indicator is indicative of a supply of application data needed to maintain a satisfactory quality of experience for an application session associated with the flow. • Patent number: 8767728
Abstract: In an access network, a tunnel gateway (TGW) managed network caching architecture is proposed. The proposed TGW receives a terminal request directed to a data server for a flow of data. The terminal request is forwarded to the TGW through a tunnel from a tunnel endpoint located below the TGW. The TGW selects a network cache to handle the data traffic of the flow requested by the requesting terminal. The TGW then redirects the terminal request to the selected network cache to provide the requested service. The TGW redirects the terminal request through a tunnel whose endpoint is the selected network cache.

  • Patent number: 8761043
Abstract: A method for setting up a VPN is described. The VPN is set up in a backbone network having a plurality of PE routers for controlling the transfer of IP traffic to and from CE routers in satellite networks. In a PE router, a VRF is configured for the VPN and populated with local routes for the VPN. A VRF IP loopback address is assigned for the VRF, and a PE IP loopback address is assigned for the ingress PE router. A local route with the VRF and PE IP loopback addresses is then advertised to other PE routers in the backbone network.

  • Publication number: 20140126502
Abstract: A method of delivering packets from a radio access network to a user terminal. The method comprises establishing a radio access bearer for transporting data to the user terminal from a radio layer control entity responsible for constructing downlink radio frames. Within the radio access network, an IP traffic flow destined for said user terminal is observed and a delivery priority determined for the IP traffic flow taking into account a user application to which the traffic relates. The delivery priority is dynamic ally adjusted in dependence upon the desired arrival time or delivery rate of packets within the IP traffic flow at the user terminal. With respect to other downlink user traffic to be sent over the radio interface, packets of the IP traffic flow are scheduled for transmission to the user terminal over the established radio access bearer, and or the scheduling weight of radio frames of the established radio access bearer adjusted, in accordance with the current delivery priority.

  • Publication number: 20140126538
Abstract: A method is provided which introduces user plane caching over an interface between a first node in a radio access network and a second node in a core network. At the first node: receiving first uplink tunnel parameters relating to the second node, selecting first downlink tunnel parameters relating to the first node, sending the first uplink and downlink tunnel parameters to a cache node designated to the first node, receiving second uplink and downlink tunnel parameters relating to the cache node, and sending the second downlink tunnel parameters to the second node. A first tunnel is established between the first node and the cache node based on the second uplink tunnel parameters and the first downlink tunnel parameters, uplink user plane data is sent to the second node through the first and second tunnels via the cache node, and downlink user plane data is received from the second node.

  • Patent number: 8717902
Abstract: A method is provided of reducing traffic in or relating to a service provider network. The service provider network comprises a core packet network, a plurality of first access points (6) off the core network to an external packet network (7), and a plurality of second access points (4) off the core network to local subscribers. A cache (T1, T2) is provided at each of the access points (6, 4) for caching content passing through. In response to a request received from the external network (7) at any of the first access points (6) for content from a local subscriber, it is attempted to serve the request from content previously cached at that first access point (6) or another of the first access points (6). If unable to serve the request from any of the first access point caches (T1), it is attempted to serve the request from content previously cached at the second access point (4) serving the local subscriber.
