  • Patent number: 4459369
Abstract: Catalyst for heterogeneous synthesis and more particularly for the preparation of oxygenated compounds from synthesis gas (substantially H.sub.2 and CO and CO.sub.2), based on the general formula:CuTi.sub.a M.sub.b A.sub.cin which M is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of chrome, manganese, cobalt, molybdenum, rhodium platinum and iron, A is an alkali or alkaline earth metal, a is comprised within 0.1 and 0.5 and b and c may vary between 0 and 0.2.Application of these catalysts for the preparation of higher alcohol mixtures (fuel grade) C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 when b and c are zero, and C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 (for about 50%) and C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 (for the other 50%) when b and c are other than zero.

  • Patent number: 4430254
Abstract: A spherical cerium-activated catalyst for the NH.sub.3 synthesis is prepared by: mixing magnetite with (by weight): 2-3.5% of aluminium oxide, 0.8-2% potassium hydroxide, 2-3.5% calcium oxide, 0.1-0.4% magnesium oxide and 0.2-0.5% silica; melting this mixture in a furnace at a temperature of at least 1600.degree. C.; air-cooling the molten mass, removing melted slag; crushing the deslagged mass in a crusher and pulverizing it in a rod-mill; adding in a mixer to the so obtained powder a cerium nitrate solution in quantities to obtain in the final catalyst a metallic cerium concentration of 0.5 to 2.5%; pelletising the so added powder in a tray pelletiser to obtain a sphere shaped catalyst; drying said catalytic spheres in a furnace at 100.degree.-200.degree. C., and sintering them in an argon atmosphere at a temperature of 1250.degree.-1350.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4407737
Abstract: In the process for the preparation of catalysts for heterogeneous synthesis, particularly for the ammonia synthesis, in which a mixture of magnetite and oxides of calcium, aluminium, potassium and silicon is molten, the molten mass is air cooled, freed from the slag, crushed and powdered, the so obtained powders are pelletized and the prepared spheres are dried and sintered in an argon atmosphere, the improvement consisting in that the crushing is carried to a content of at least 80% of fine powders with a granulometry of from 325 to 400 mesh.
