  • Publication number: 20230258483
Abstract: A sensor calibration system includes a controller configured to receive a first electrical output generated by a sensor while submitted to a first input condition and a second electrical output generated by the sensor while submitted to a second input condition. The first and second electrical outputs represent lower and upper limits, respectively, of a sensor measurement range. The controller obtains a first reference value that corresponds to the lower limit and a second reference value that corresponds to the upper limit, and determines a drift function of the sensor based on a value of the first electrical output, a value of the second electrical output, the first reference value, and the second reference value. The controller inputs a value of a raw electrical output generated by the sensor into the drift function to determine an adjusted value of the raw electrical output.

  • Patent number: 11396849
Abstract: Various methods and systems are provided for dynamically assigning cylinders to cylinder sets in engines having two or more cylinder banks, wherein each cylinder bank is fed intake air by a separate intake manifold, and wherein each cylinder bank includes a separate exhaust manifold. In one example, the current disclosure teaches comparing engine operating conditions against a plurality of predetermined override conditions, and responding to the engine operating conditions matching a predetermined override condition of the plurality of predetermined override conditions by reassigning at least a first cylinder of a first cylinder bank from a first cylinder set to a second cylinder set, and adjusting an operating parameter of the second cylinder set and first cylinder set based on the override condition. In this way, cylinders may be dynamically assigned to cylinder sets based, from a default cylinder set, based on occurrence of predetermined override conditions.

  • Patent number: 11255287
Abstract: A control apparatus includes a first controller configured to generate control signals for controlling an engine or other machine, a second controller configured to generate the control signals for controlling the machine, a transfer circuit, and an arbiter circuit. The transfer circuit is coupled between the machine and the controllers, and is configured to switch from a first state, where the transfer circuit passes the control signals from the first controller to the machine, to a second state, where the transfer circuit passes the control signals from the second controller to the machine, responsive to receiving a first failure signal from the first controller. The arbiter circuit includes three (or more) arbiters, and is configured to control the transfer circuit from the first state to the second state responsive to any two of the three arbiters generating second signals indicative of failure of the first controller.

  • Patent number: 10495014
Abstract: A system is provided that includes one or more sensors configured to monitor operating parameters of engine components and a controller. The controller is programmed to perform operations that include displaying test details on a display screen that are specific to a selected test to be performed on the engine components. The test details include pre-conditional parameters of the engine components that are necessary prior to starting the selected test. The operations also include receiving the monitored operating parameters of the engine components from the one or more sensors and determining whether the monitored operating parameters satisfy the pre-conditional parameters. The operations further include, responsive to receiving an indication to start the selected test and determining that the measured operating parameters satisfy the pre-conditional parameters, performing the selected test on the engine components.

  • Patent number: 9475564
Abstract: A method of determining fuel limits for an engine includes measuring an actual fuel value for the engine and creating a plurality of engine speed points. The method further includes calculating respective static fuel limit points for each of the engine speed points utilizing the actual fuel value. The static fuel limit points define and limit a rated power of the engine.
