Abstract: An apparatus for removing hair from the skin of slaughtered animals including a chamber having a top, bottom and a dielectric lateral wall between the top and the bottom of the chamber which acts as a thermal barrier and defines an interior space for receiving an animal and is provided with at least one static electricity emitter positioned on the lateral wall of the chamber, a conduit for supplying combustible fluid to the chamber an ignitor for the combustible fluid, and a support for an animal extending transversely through the interior space of the chamber.
