  • Publication number: 20190003871
Abstract: A pressure bladder comprising a substantially cylindrically shaped interior chamber is formed from a pliable, yet chemically resistant material, for example a fluoropolymer, such as FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene). The interior chamber of the pressure bladder is hydraulically sealed at a distal end and is hydraulically coupled to a pressure sensor at a proximate end. Both the pressure bladder and pressure sensor are filled with an inert, non-reactive, stable measurement fluid. Optionally, a support mandrel with a second, smaller substantially cylindrically shaped interior chamber is hydraulically coupled between the pressure bladder and the pressure sensor and also filled with the measurement fluid. The pressure sensor is electrically coupled to electrical conductors, as is an optional thermistor. The conductors are received within a conductor protective tubing.

  • Patent number: 9764893
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device and system for monitoring the closure state of a hatch. A pressure sensor is positioned between the upper sealing ring of the hatch lid and the lower sealing ring of the flange, adjacent to or within the pressure gasket. In the open position, force sensor detects little force between the upper and lower sealing rings, in the closed position, the sensors detects an increase in force, but in the closed and latched position, the force sensor detects much higher force between the upper and lower sealing rings. The force sensor is electrically coupled to a monitor unit that communicates the force readings (either as raw or processed data) to remote locations such as data/processing remote centers, clouds, or portable devices. Cry-out alarms may be employed to alert operators when a hatch is open or not securely latched.

  • Publication number: 20080018675
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a data logger for electrically recording positions of a motional member in a chart recorder. A mechanical-to-electrical converter translates the mechanical positions into electrical position signals. The mechanical-to-electrical includes a mechanical coupler for securing at least a portion of the converter to a motional member in a mechanical chart recorder and a position sensor for measuring the spatial positions of the motional member as it moves in response to movements generated in a mechanical measurement instrument. The position sensor generates electrical position signals that are fed to a field processor. The field processor transforms the electrical position signals into position data representative of the spatial position by applying a calibration algorithm that uses calibration coefficients determined for the particular position sensor being employed.
