Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of shrinkable sheet products from copolyamides with good processing properties. The copolyamides consist of .epsilon.-caprolactam and equimolar quantities of dimeric fatty acids and diamines.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the continuous extraction of polyamides, in which the residue of low molecular weight components left in the polyamide is very small. It also relates to a two-part extraction tube suitable for this purpose, in which the upper part is connected to the lower part by a transition tube of smaller diameter and a counterflow extraction is carried out in the upper part and a direct flow extraction in the lower part under particular conditions.

Abstract: An emulsifier for the preparation of polymers comprising more than 50 percent by weight of an alkali metal salt of polysulphonic acid of alkane of medium chain length is disclosed. The emulsifier is useful in forming emulsions of polymers especially thermoplastic polymers and in particular polymers of vinyl chloride. It is useful in vinyl chloride polymerization and co-polymerization to form an emulsifier composition having improved transparent and antistatic properties. The polymer can be added before, during or after polymerization. When added after polymerization it provides improved properties to a calendered object obtained from the polymer.

Abstract: An aqueous dispersion of a synthetic polymer of average diameter in the range of 50 to 500 nm and especially above 75 nm is disclosed, the aqueous dispersion having a solids content of 5 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts per weight of total dispersion. The aqueous dispersion is provided by effecting polymerization in the presence of an emulsifier which comprises an alkali metal salt of a polysulfonic acid of an alkane of medium chain length e.g. 8 to 22 carbon atoms.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of a symmetric diarylcarbonate by reacting phosgene with a phenol wherein said reactions is carried out by the phase interface process in a diphastic mixture of an aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution and a liquid diaryl carbonate in the presence of from 0.001 to 0.1 mol of a tertiary amine or a quaternary ammonium compound per mol of phenol.
