  • Patent number: 5002486
Abstract: The device forms part of an automatic control facility by which the water-primed oral suction pump in dental surgery equipment is protected from the effects of low water pressure and power cuts; the efficiency of control is improved by the inclusion of timers (7, 9) that ensure continued operation of the pump and its inlet valve in the event that fluctuations in the water pressure and electrical power levels happen to be of a momentary order.

  • Patent number: 4824083
Abstract: The work rest is typical of those used by dental technicians and goldsmiths, but comprises an air intake point (7) at the side of the work area (4) remote from the craftsman; this connects directly with a suction pipe (5) beneath and is surmounted by a folding cowl (9) consisting in a rear member (10), rigidly interconnecting two side members (11), and a top member (13) hinged between centers near the top edge of the rear member. The entire cowl assembly pivots about a horizontal axis adjacent to the rear edge of the air intake (7).

  • Patent number: 4802646
Abstract: The fitting, which serves for rigid and flexible tube alike, comprises a base (1) to which two arched ribbon elements (4, 5) are hinged in a face-to-face arrangement via intermediate points along their relative external surface; the two elements (4, 5) are fastened together around the tube by causing an inward-facing lip (12), located at the end of one element (4), to engage one of a set of teeth (9) spaced apart at a given distance one from the next along the outer surface of the other element (5). The element (4) with the lip incorporates a lower section (8) shaped so as to breast, at least in part, with the cylindrical external surface of the clamped pipe or tube.

  • Patent number: 4787846
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for shutting off suction generated through the single tubes of dental surgery equipment, which comprises a rotary mechanical obturator (5) located in the grip (1) of the suction tube (2) and attached to a pin (3) that engages in a helical groove (6) offered by the holder (4) in which the grip is replaced whenever the tube is not in use. Pin and obturator rotate as one between an open position and a closed position, the obturator being biased permanently toward the open position by a coil spring (7).

  • Patent number: 4710209
Abstract: A moisture trap is disclosed of the type, used in fluid suction equipment for dentistry in particular, which comprises a negative pressure intake (1) consisting of a venturi (2) that draws in fluid and delivers it into a vertical separation chamber (3) having an outlet (6) at bottom via which liquids are discharged, and an outlet (7) uppermost via which air is exhausted. A trap according to the invention has a separator device, located between the chamber fluid inlet (9) and the air outlet (7), embodied as a column of components arranged in such a way as to create a tortuous passage through the separation chamber (3) in which the direction of the stream of fluid is changed several times.

  • Patent number: 4684345
Abstract: A spittle separation and disposal device is disclosed that incorporates a drainage pump and forms part of the suction equipment used in dentistry. The device comprises a separator vessel (1) fitted with a drain valve (2); the drainage pump (8), located downstream of the valve and kept normally at standstill, is set in motion by a control signal from level sensors (9, 10) within the vessel, whenever liquid in the vessel itself rises to a prescribed level. The vessel has a lid (3) provided with an element (14) in the form of a cone frustum the inside of which communicates with a port connected to an air pump, and the internal surface of which exhibits a number of helical starts (15) disposed in opposition to the helical pattern tern of movement of the air which is drawn up through the element by the air pump.

  • Patent number: 4386910
Abstract: The invention concerns a console specifically designed for the suction tubes of suction units used in dentistry. The console basically comprises a box-like shell which is furnished with a collector, maintained in a state of vacuum and connected to the suction tubes, inside of which is a filter drawer through which pass all the fluids sucked in by the tubes. There is a compartment located in the top of the box-like shell, its top open, which contains the pneumatic and electrical command devices necessary to the console's functioning. The console further comprises a cover in which are located the forked housings for the tubes, which can be attached directly to the top of the box-like shell or which can be connected to the box-like shell by means of articulating arms which allow adjustment of the position of the cover and, consequently, the tubes' housings, with respect to the box-like shell, which will normally be fixed to the dentist's main assembly.

  • Patent number: 4293300
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a liquid separating and evacuating device for fluid suction equipment and, in particular, for dental surgery equipment, with which it is possible to separate the air from the liquids and to continuously drain the latter without interrupting the suction. The said device consists essentially of a cylindrical container, placed on a vertical axis, that is provided on the bottom part thereof with a draining valve. Placed inside the said container there is a horizontal partition that is divided into two superposed chambers. This partition has a valve which either allows or prevents the liquid from passing from the first chamber to the second chamber.A float contained in the first chamber controls, by actuating a pneumatic distributor, the opening and the closing of the aforementioned valves which successively allow the liquid to pass from the first chamber to the second chamber and from the latter to the outside.
