The method includes dynamically creating a user interface for a business object based on metadata, the user interface including a menu. A service from the menu is launched, the service corresponding to the business object. Information is retrieved from the service based on the metadata and displayed; the information related to the business object is updated dynamically for future retrievals.

Abstract: A method, and computer program product for performing the method, is provided for defining a chart that graphically represents data stored in an electronic data source. The method includes receiving a user selection of 1) a data object family contained in the electronic data source, and 2) an attribute for the selected data object family. The selected attribute has multiple possible predefined values that are to serve as category axis values in the chart. The method also includes receiving a user definition of a first data series comprising a value measure to be determined for each of the category axis values and that uses stored data associated with the data object family. The method also includes storing an electronic chart definition file containing an identification of the selected data object attribute and the defined first data series.

Abstract: A method of providing user input values for input controls includes receiving, in a graphical user interface wherein input controls are associated with predefined alternative input values, a first input identifying user selection of at least some of the input controls. The method includes receiving a second input identifying user selection of at least one of the predefined alternative input values that is associated with each of the selected input controls. The second input is made using one of the selected input controls. The method includes entering the selected predefined alternative input value in each of the selected input controls. The value may be automatically entered upon receiving the second input. A third input, for example made with a context menu, may be required to enter the value in the selected controls.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to a system and method to provide contextual object attributes in a browser window user interface at runtime. The objects are context sensitive and displayed in a band of the browser. Each object is associated with different services for supporting changes during runtime. After invoking a band in the browser, a search for a contextual object attribute provides a list of context object attributes related to the searched object. On selecting the relevant object, the object can then be displayed. Configuring the contextual objects is based on defined metadata for the business object, the domain model and the business application. The selected object can be displayed in a band of the window during runtime.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for generating instructions to deploy software by querying a user to configure a system portion and a process portion of the instruction set. Each portion may be stored in its own self-confined module of data, referred to as a system configuration and process configuration respectively. A system administrator may define an execution process that deploys software by linking one or more system configurations to one or more process configurations. The system configurations and process configurations may be stored indefinitely so that each portion can be reused for later software deployments involving different systems or process steps to be performed. A system administrator may set up system configurations, process configurations and execution process definitions using user-friendly graphical user interfaces.

Abstract: A method of managing user tasks during a project may comprise displaying a checklist on a graphical user interface in a computer system, the checklist being used as an instruction guide for a user to perform predefined tasks during a project, receiving, in the computer system, a first user input that is associated with one of the predefined tasks and that includes performance data for the associated predefined task, and storing the performance data in the computer system, the performance data being stored in association with the associated predefined task. The graphical user interface may include status indicator(s) for the tasks. The user may skip one or more tasks. A method comprises receiving in a computer system first data that is read from a selected physical item of a plurality of physical items. The first data is displayed in an editing area of a graphical user interface and not in a list display area of the graphical user interface. Upon receiving second data that is read from another selected physical item, 1) the first data ceases to be displayed in the editing area, 2) the first data is displayed in the list display area, and 3) the second data is displayed in the editing area. The reading can be performed using a handheld barcode scanner.

The method includes initiating, upon receipt of a user command requiring that the predefined chart be generated, a predefined electronic database query that causes data needed to generate the predefined chart to be retrieved from the electronic data source. The method also includes determining the data series value measures for each of the category axis values using the data retrieved from the electronic data source. The method also includes generating a display of the predefined chart comprising the category values displayed in a category axis and the value measures displayed in a value axis.
