Patent number: 10324976Abstract: A gallery software application enables a user to browse, view, and interact with various content items, such as still images and videos. The gallery includes a graphical user interface with two modes: stack and grid. In stack mode, images (which represent content items) are divided into groups, and a group is represented by a displayed stack of images. In grid mode, images are displayed in a grid of rows and columns. The displayed stacks and images can be scrolled. When the scrolling reaches the end of a set of stacks or images, the last stack or image is displayed with perspective distortion. In grid mode, a value is displayed for meta-data of a content item that is not currently displayed. If a user indicates the displayed value, the grid is scrolled until the content item whose meta-data matches that value is displayed.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2015Date of Patent: June 18, 2019Assignee: OATH INC.Inventors: Venkat Krishnaraj, Austin W. Publication number: 20170068397Abstract: An image browser alternates between displaying an image grid with less perspective distortion and displaying it with more perspective distortion. The distortion amount is determined by the grid's angle of rotation. If the angle is zero, then the view is perpendicular and has no distortion. In one embodiment, the user manually switches between the less distorted view and the more distorted view. In another embodiment, the switching of views is performed automatically based on whether the image grid is moving or stationary. If the image grid is moving, then it is shown with a more distorted view. If the image grid is stationary, then it is shown with a less distorted view. In yet another embodiment, the switching of views is performed automatically based on the scrolling velocity (i.e., speed and direction). In this embodiment, scrolling and tilting are integrated such that as scrolling velocity changes, tilt angle changes also.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2014Publication date: March 9, 2017Inventors: Austin W. Patent number: 9128602Abstract: A gallery software application enables a user to browse, view, and interact with various content items, such as still images and videos. The gallery includes a graphical user interface, where a content item is represented by an image. A group of content items is represented by a displayed stack of partially-overlapping images. A content item is associated with geo-location information and timestamp information. This information is used to divide the content items into groups.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2010Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Assignee: YAHOO! INC.Inventors: Venkat Krishnaraj, Austin W. Patent number: 8839128Abstract: A gallery software application enables a user to browse, view, and interact with various content items, such as still images and videos. The gallery includes a graphical user interface that displays multiple images in the foreground and one image in the background. The foreground images represent content items. The background image is generated based on one of the foreground images. As the foreground images are scrolled, the background image changes.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2010Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: Cooliris, Inc.Inventors: Venkat Krishnaraj, Austin W. Patent number: 8832554Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium are provided that in an embodiment morph between two graphical views of related content that share a common frame of reference. In an embodiment, the two views depict the same data at different resolutions. The morphing permits the viewer to visualize the relationship between the two views along a common axis or within a common frame of reference. In another embodiment, the two views may be a clip view and an timeline view. In the clip view, icons representing clips are the same size. In the timeline view, icons representing clips have a size proportional to the time of the clip when played. A virtual playhead icon is maintained in the same relative position in both views, so that a user's focus is maintained.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2010Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Austin W.
