  • Publication number: 20130221639
Abstract: An airbag housing is carried on a formed part extending from a lower section of an instrument panel for a motor vehicle. The formed part forms at least a front section of an upper wall of a footwell assigned to the vehicle occupants. A knee air-bag is disposed in the airbag housing.

  • Publication number: 20130193252
Abstract: A reversible seat belt tensioner includes an electric motor (2), a belt shaft (1) drivable in the belt winding direction by the electric motor (2) via a drive wheel (10), and a drive shaft (9) transmitting the rotational movement of the electric motor (2) to the drive wheel (10). The drive shaft (9) is connected to at least one of the drive wheel (10) and the electric motor (2) via a helical gear unit. The teeth of the helical gear unit make point-shaped contacts with each other, and the drive shaft (9) is axially movable relative to the electric motor (2) or the drive wheel (10) without disengaging the gear teeth.

  • Publication number: 20130099466
Abstract: Disclosed is a vehicle airbag. The vehicle airbag includes a deployment restricting member linked with an upper portion of a rear surface part of an outer portion of the vehicle airbag, prepared in a strip shape, and having one end statically fixed with a collar of the vehicle airbag in adjacent to the collar of the vehicle airbag and an opposite end coupled with the upper portion of the rear surface part of the outer portion of the vehicle airbag, thereby delaying the rear surface part of the vehicle airbag. A tear part is provided at the central portion of the deployment restricting member so that the tear part is torn under a predetermined pressure. In initial deployment of the vehicle airbag, the upper portion of the rear surface part of the airbag is confined in a folded state, so that the lower portion of the airbag is first inflated. The airbag is prevented from being suddenly inflated, thereby preventing the chest, the neck, or the head of the occupant from being injured.

  • Publication number: 20130062450
Abstract: A piston for a pretensioner device (10) for a motor vehicle seat belt system of a type having a gas generator (17) with the piston (21) guided in a tube (16) that closes a pressure space (20) in the tube (16). The pressure space (20) can be pressurized by the gas generator (17), driving the piston (21) to undergo pretensioning operation transmitted to the seat belt system by a force transmission means. The piston has a dome shaped front side adapted to engage a force transmission element and a skirt forming a sealing lip oriented toward the pressure space. At least one slot is formed in the outer surface of the piston extending axially from the sealing lip. The slot can be enlarged by the material erosion caused by the pressure and/or pressure conditions in the pressure space produced by gas from the gas generator.
