  • Publication number: 20200213486
Abstract: A system for capturing and processing an image in a camera system for a vehicle includes a camera module with a lens and a sensor, an image signal processor, a control unit, and an infrared elimination mechanism. The system may include at least one infrared illuminator. In normal light conditions, the infrared portion of the light is not used. The system may include an IR-cut filter disposed within the camera module that is moveable between a filtered position where infrared light is blocked before reaching an RGB sensor in normal light conditions and an unfiltered position where all of the light reaches the RGB sensor in low light conditions. The system may include an RGB-IR sensor without a filter, and the infrared portion captured at the sensor is ignored in normal light conditions and, in low light conditions, the infrared portion is used.

  • Publication number: 20200055402
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods of automatic off-throttle regenerative braking in electric vehicles. One or more sensors disposed in an electric vehicle can acquire one or more sensor signals indicative of one or more respective driving parameters of the electric vehicle. A data processing system of the electric vehicle can determine, using the one or more sensor signals, one or more current driving conditions of the electric vehicle. The data processing system of the electric vehicle can determine, using the one or more current driving conditions, a future driving state indicative of an imminent future slowdown event. The data processing system of the electric vehicle can cause a regenerative braking system of the electric vehicle to apply regenerative braking, responsive to determining the future driving state.

  • Publication number: 20200047687
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods to control vehicular functions using voice commands that originate outside vehicles. A plurality of microphones can be disposed on an exterior of a vehicle, and can detect a voice command from a user located outside the vehicle. The voice command can include an activation phrase followed by an operational command. The at least one of the plurality of microphones can activate, responsive to the detection, a speech module of the vehicle from a low-power mode. The speech module can authenticate the user according to the activation phrase of the voice command, and can determine a vehicular function corresponding to the operational command of the voice command. The speech module can cause the vehicle to provide an indicator to acknowledge the operational command. The speech module can activate an electronic control unit (ECU) that corresponds to the vehicular function, to perform the vehicular function.

  • Publication number: 20200017124
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods of transferring controls in vehicular settings. A vehicle control unit can have a manual mode and an autonomous mode. An environment sensing module can identify a condition to change an operational mode of the vehicle control unit from the autonomous mode to the manual mode. A behavior classification module can determine an activity type of an occupant based on data from a sensor. A reaction prediction can use a behavior model to determine, based on the activity type, an estimated reaction time between a presentation of an indication to the occupant to assume manual control of vehicular function and a state change of the operational mode from the autonomous mode to the manual mode. A policy enforcement module can apply the action based on the estimated reaction time in advance of the condition to indicate to the occupant to assume manual control.

  • Patent number: 10421465
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods of alerting occupants in electric or other vehicles to assume manual control of vehicular functions. An environment sensing module can identify a condition to have an occupant within the vehicle assume manual control of a vehicular function. A chassis control module can control actuation of a suspension system, an acceleration system, a brake system, and a steering system. The chassis control module can have a normal mode and an escalation mode. The normal mode can reduce an external force feedback from outside the vehicle. The escalation mode can mechanically induce an internal force feedback from within the vehicle. A policy enforcement module can cause the chassis control module to change from the normal mode to the escalation mode to use one of a plurality of defined feedback patterns as the mechanically induced internal force feedback to convey the identified condition to the occupant.

  • Publication number: 20040046350
Abstract: A suspension for a vehicle having a body includes a first wheel assembly suspension that extends between a wheel assembly and the body and defines a first suspension plane. The suspension further includes a second wheel assembly suspension that extends between the wheel assembly and the body and defines a second suspension plane. A vertical plane extends through a vertical centerline of the wheel assembly and the intersection between the vertical plane and the first suspension plane defines a first line. The intersection between the vertical plane and the second suspension plane also defines a second line, the first line and the second line intersecting at an instant center that lies below a roll center of the vehicle. The first wheel assembly suspension and the second wheel assembly suspension do not cross one another when the first wheel assembly is viewed from either the front of rear of the vehicle.
