  • Patent number: 9055376
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein relating to audio classification. Genres of music can be identified by detecting unique spectral features inherent to those genres. One example genre detected is techno music. Two dimensional discrete cosine transforms can be generated for consecutive windows of the spectrogram or chromagram. A max value of the energy of portions of the two dimensional discrete cosine transforms can be determined. The max value can be normalized and aggregated with max values related to neighboring windows. If the aggregate scores meet a genre threshold, the audio sample, or portions thereof, can be associated with a genre of music.

  • Patent number: 8895830
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein relating to interactive gaming within a media sharing service. Game data, such as sets of notes extracted from the audio track of user generated videos or from audio samples, can be generated based on videos containing musical content or from audio content. A device can use the game data to facilitate an interactive game during playback of the user generated videos or audio samples. Players can press buttons, for example, corresponding to notes as the video with musical content is played within the game interface. Players can be scored for accuracy, and can play with other players in a multiplayer environment. In this sense, user generated video content or audio content can be transformed and used within a gaming interface to increase interaction and engagement between users in a media sharing service.

  • Publication number: 20090187577
Abstract: A system for a site in a communications network that holds a profile of favorite information sources for each of a plurality of registered users. The system includes a server to check the relevancy of items of audio content from radio and TV stations and items of audio-rendered RSS content from Web sites and pod-casts relative to the profiles. The server also transmits a list of the relevant content to each of the plurality of users accordingly. The system also includes a database for current and archival storage of the content and an RSS server to act as an RSS feed reader to format XML code into an easily readable format. Thus, each of the plurality of users is provided with a service enabling him to request items from the list and to listen to the requested relevant audio content at his convenience using a personal handheld device.
