  • Publication number: 20150265492
Abstract: Apparatus comprising an array of individually controlled skin treatment units to be applied to a skin segment with each of the units comprising: a housing defining a cavity that fluidly communicates with a source of vacuum pressure, having an inner side terminated by a rim facilitating sealing of the cavity when the unit is applied to the skin, dimensions of the cavity being sufficient to accommodate a volume of a skin segment drawn into the cavity by the source of vacuum pressure to create a skin protrusion; wherein application and release of vacuum pressure to the unit generates a back and forth massaging movement of at least a portion of a volume of skin against the rim, and wherein each of the units of the array has at least two degrees of rotational movement with respect to an adjacent unit so that the array can conform to skin segment topography.

  • Publication number: 20150201993
Abstract: A skin surface is treated with RF energy (e.g., unipolar, monopolar, bipolar or multipolar RF delivery). A first semiconductive cap disposed on a first distal end of a first electrode and, optionally, a second semiconductive cap disposed on a second distal end of a second electrode are applied to the skin surface. RF energy is delivered from the first electrode and the second electrode through the first semiconductive cap and the second semiconductive cap, respectively, through the skin surface. The first semiconductive cap and/or the second semiconductive cap have an electrical conductivity matched or substantially matched to the skin's electrical conductivity (e.g., about 0.1 to about 2 times that of the skin).

  • Patent number: 8496193
Abstract: A fluid flow control device, particularly useful for drip-irrigation emitters, for controlling the discharge of a fluid (water) from a discharge port in a fluid conduit (drip irrigation pipe) includes: a housing attachable to the fluid conduit and constructed to define a fluid chamber having an inlet opening communicating with the interior of the fluid conduit, and an outlet opening communicating with the discharge port of the fluid conduit; and a flow control member freely movable within the fluid chamber and having a surface contacting an inner surface of the housing to control the flow of fluid from said fluid chamber out of the fluid conduit via said outlet opening in the housing. One of the contacting surfaces of the flow control member or housing is formed with a protruding pattern such that the two contacting surfaces define small passageways for the flow of fluid from the fluid chamber out of the fluid conduit via the outlet opening.

  • Publication number: 20130178764
Abstract: A method and apparatus that affect vacuum to massage a volume of the skin and one or more types of skin treatment energies coupled to the massaged volume to treat the skin and subcutaneous adipose tissue and produce a desired treatment effect. The method and apparatus are based on coupling an array or a number of arrays being an assembly of skin treatment units with each skin treatment unit including a hollow cavity and a number of different energy to skin applying elements operative to receive skin treatment energy from a source of such energy and couple or apply the received energy to a treated segment of skin.

  • Publication number: 20130123629
Abstract: Provided are body fat measuring techniques employed to date, usually applying a certain level of force to the tissue causing narrowing of the adipose tissue layer at the time of measuring. This creates a bias in the adipose layer thickness measurement results that is not accounted for when employing these methods. Provided is a current apparatus and method offering a solution for accounting for this bias thus improving the accuracy of body fat measurements.

  • Patent number: 8357150
Abstract: RF skin treatment is provided by applying to the skin an applicator that includes a tip populated by at least one voltage to skin delivering element and an isolating transformer located proximate to the tip to reduce ground currents through parasitic capacitance. The skin impedance is monitored during an RF treatment pulse to ensure that a sufficient amount of energy is delivered to the skin to cause a desired effect. The pulse energy can be increased if the skin impedance is too low. In addition, pain can be alleviated by cutting off the RF pulse if the skin impedance is too high. Further, inefficient RF pulses can be excluded by cutting off the RF energy supply if the skin impedance is too low.
