Abstract: An apparatus and a method for use with a device for delivery of a therapeutic fluid into a body of a patient and/or for sensing of a bodily analyte are disclosed. The apparatus is adapted for accommodating at least one subcutaneously insertable element and at least one penetrating member for penetrating the skin of the patient. The apparatus includes a protective member having an elongate body from which the subcutaneously insertable element and the penetrating member can be protracted to penetrate the skin of the patient and into which the penetrating member can be retracted subsequent to the penetrating, thereby retaining the subcutaneously insertable element in the body of the patient.

Abstract: An insertion apparatus and a method for use with a device for delivery of a therapeutic fluid into a body of a patient and/or for sensing of a bodily analyte are disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing adapted for loading therein at least one cannula cartridge unit having a protective member. The protective member accommodates at least one penetrating cartridge having a subcutaneously insertable element and a penetrating member. The apparatus includes a displacement mechanism capable of protracting the penetrating cartridge towards the body of the patient, where protraction of the penetrating cartridge results in insertion of the subcutaneously insertable element into the body of the patient.

Abstract: An infrared radiation (IR) detector device that comprises a casing, having an optical window for admitting radiation; a cold shield having a detector mounted therein and having a filter mounted between the optical window and the detector; a cooler tube in coiled configuration, having an inlet in communication with a pressurized gas source and an expansion nozzle located in the vicinity of the detector and a pre-cooling jacket, enclosing the cooler tube and having a gas inlet in the vicinity of the detector and a gas discharge vent to the outside. The cooler tube comprises a first section, beginning at the gas inlet, a second section, terminating at the expansion nozzle, and a communication between the first and second sections. The pre-cooling jacket comprises a first section, housing the first section of the cooler tube, a second section, housing the second section of the cooler tube, and a communication between the first and second sections.
