  • Patent number: 7060048
Abstract: A needleless syringe device for accelerating particles into a target tissue of a vertebrate subject is provided. The syringe features an elongate, tubular duct having a lumen for delivering the particles towards the target tissue. The duct may have a constant cross-sectional area. The device further features a receptacle holding the particles and a gas discharge chamber upstream of the receptacle. On actuation the gas discharge chamber discharges pressurised gas having a maximum total pressure of about 10 bar or less. Methods of using the device for delivering particles to a target tissue are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7059348
Abstract: An implantable drug delivery system has a housing, a collapsible reservoir, a microfabricated flow channel, and at least one magnet. The collapsible reservoir is disposed in the housing. The microfabricated flow channel is connected at one end to the collapsible reservoir and opens at an external surface of the housing. The magnet is disposed within the housing adjacent a membrane defining the flow channel and is movable in response to a magnetic force to deflect the membrane into the flow channel for inhibiting drug flow from the collapsible reservoir to the external surface of the housing, and for pumping drug flow from the collapsible reservoir to the external surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5540665
Abstract: The present invention provides a gas generating engine for driving a beneficial agent dispensing device. The engine comprising (a) a solid composition comprising an acidic compound or a basic compound, or a combination thereof, and (b) a means for maintaining substantially constant the surface area of the solid composition exposed to a reservoir fluid comprising water, or water and an acidic compound, or water and a basic compound, wherein in operation, the solid composition is exposed to the reservoir fluid which dissolves the solid composition and causes it to generate a gas, the gas being a driving fluid to dispense a beneficial agent. The present invention further provides a fluid driven dispensing device for delivering an agent into an environment of use, the device be driven by the gas generating engine.
