  • Publication number: 20170215116
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus to prevent poor quality handoff decisions in mobile networks. The methods and apparatus effectuate a determination whether a predetermined condition concerning a cell has occurred as detected in the mobile device, such as unsuccessful handoff or a signal to noise ratio being less than a certain amount. Based on such determinations, poor quality handoff decisions can be realized by modifying or configuring the measurement report message to be sent to the serving network where the measurement report is configured to omit information concerning those cells not meeting the predetermined condition. Accordingly, these cells will not be considered in handoff decisions, thus increasing the quality of such decisions.

  • Patent number: 9526105
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include devices, systems and methods for prevention of dropped calls. For example, a method for wireless communication is described. A wireless communication device begins an acquisition. A scan of absolute radio frequency channel numbers for supported bands is performed using a wideband receiver. The absolute radio frequency channel numbers that include a frequency correction channel are identified. A synchronization channel is decoded using data corresponding to the identified one or more frequency correction channels. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20160142950
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for an apparatus configured to receive a transmission from a serving cell utilizing a single antenna while the apparatus is operating in a first mode. While the apparatus is operating in a second mode, the apparatus may be configured to measure a signal quality of a neighbor cell utilizing at least one of two or more antennas and use receive diversity (RxD) to receive the transmission from the serving cell utilizing the two or more antennas. While the apparatus is operating in a third mode, the apparatus may be further configured to use only RxD to receive the transmission from the serving cell utilizing the two or more antennas. The first mode may be a single-antenna mode. The second mode may be a hybrid-antenna mode. The third mode may be an RxD-only mode.

  • Publication number: 20140328155
Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting modulation and encoding schemes for transmitting control information on a wireless channel. For example, a base station or access terminal may select a modulation and coding scheme for transmitting radio link or media access control messages on a radio frequency channel based on a link quality of the radio frequency channel. The radio frequency channel may be an enhanced general packet radio service control channel. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
