    Abstract: The invention is a refill device for a cylindrical type of multi-dosing detergent delivery device wherein, said refill device comprises a plurality of detergent carrying chambers (210) sharing a common backing substrate (230). In prior refill devices, the device is provided to consumers in a fully rolled condition ready to be deployed into the detergent delivery device. However, in the present invention the refill is supplied in flat format with locking features which enable the end consumer to easily perform a rolling operation prior to use. The advantage to this arrangement comes in the lowering of manufacturing costs, packaging, storage and transportation costs that come with a less complicated product.

The specific improvement to the device comprises ensuring that the entry hole (220) of a selected chamber is out of alignment with a hole (34) forming part of the directing means at the start of a heating cycle of a wash, so as to avoid or reduce a problem of detergent held within the chamber (210) from being washed out or diluted during a pre-wash cycle of a dishwasher.

A fluid casting compound of a material having a solidified hardness of not more than about 200 N, defined as the force at which an 11 mm sphere of the material will shatter, is introduced into the mold, so that it essentially fills all of the cavities, and the casting compound is then solidified and removed from the mold.
