  • Patent number: 8104392
Abstract: The invention relates to a rod-shaped fiber composite material (400) composed of a matrix (412) and a circular braid (402) embedded into the matrix. To increase the stability of the fiber composite material (400) and also to perform ducting functions for electricity and fluids, the wall of the circular braid is provided with wall chambers (408) which are separated by a phase boundary from the matrix (412) of the fiber composite material (400). These wall chambers (408) lead to inner and outer sections of the wall of the circular braid (402) being spaced apart, which is useful for the stability with regard to flexing and torsional loading in particular. Rod-shaped fiber composite materials (400) according to the invention can be used for creating stable structural components as well as for producing efficiently protected ducts. The invention further relates to an apparatus and a process which are useful for producing fiber composite material according to the invention.

  • Publication number: 20120020801
Abstract: The present invention provides a structural element, in particular for an aircraft or spacecraft, comprising a core, the material density of which varies, at least in portions, in order to optimise the natural vibration behaviour of the structural element. The present invention further provides a method for producing a structural element, in particular for an aircraft or spacecraft, comprising the following steps: providing a structural element which has a core; determining the natural vibration behaviour of the structural element; and varying the material density of the core of the structural element, at least in portions, in such a way that the natural vibration behaviour of the structural element is optimised. The present invention provides still further an aircraft or spacecraft and a rotor blade, in particular for a wind turbine, comprising such a structural element.

  • Patent number: 7987579
Abstract: A method for mounting permanent magnets that form magnetic poles on a permanent magnet support surface of the rotor of an electric machine includes the steps of forming a mold by the placement of a mold part against the support surface in such a way that the mold cavity of the mold is bounded on one side by the support surface inserting a permanent magnet into the mold so that the inserted permanent magnet is held in the mold in a desired position with respect to the support surface, and filling the mold with a thermosetting adhesive in such that the adhesive bonds the permanent magnet with the support surface and completely fills any spaces formed between the permanent magnet and the wall of the mold cavity.

  • Publication number: 20100316857
Abstract: Disclosed is a reinforcing material for the local reinforcement of a component formed with a composite material, in particular in areas of force introduction and/or connecting areas. The reinforcing material is formed by a metallic sheet-like formation, the metallic sheet-like formation having a surface with increased roughness to improve adhesion and a coating applied to the surface to provide a seal and improve the bond with the composite material. As a result of the presence of a coating on the metallic sheet-like formation, once it has been rolled up on supply rolls, said sheet-like formation can be drawn off from the supply rolls and at the same time processed in an automated manner by means of known computer-controlled laying devices with CRP prepreg materials in web form by laying layer by layer to produce components, in particular of large format, for aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20080274322
Abstract: A fiber composite component comprising at least two, first and second partial elements (1, 2) bordering one another, each having a fiber structure (3, 4) and different matrix systems which respectively embed the fiber structure (3, 4) and cure differently from a liquid state, can be produced with an increased stability of the joint between the two partial elements (1, 2) in that first the matrix system of the first partial element (1) is liquefied and thereby penetrates irregularly into the region of the bordering second partial element (2), in that subsequently the matrix system of the second partial element (2) is liquefied and in that the matrix systems are cured. The forming of the irregular boundary surfaces causes an intermeshing or interlocking of the matrix systems with one another, whereby a boundary surface (5) with an increased shear strength is created.

  • Publication number: 20060016049
Abstract: A carding machine has a number of rollers including a cylinder and having at least one clothed and/or unclothed machine element located opposite the cylinder at a spacing therefrom. The machine may have further elements influencing the carding nip. In order to make possible a carding nip between the cylinder and the clothed and/or unclothed counterpart element that remains constant or virtually constant when heat is generated, the parts influencing the carding nip are so construed that they have thermal expansion characteristics which are such that, when subjected to the heat acting on them in use, the carding nip remains substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 6485594
Abstract: A method for producing sections in sandwich structures of fiber composites is provided, as well as the structures. The method involves shaping sectional cores around a cut-out, applying bands circumferentially along the perimeter of the cut-out, and covering the sectional cores and to circumferential bands, with layers. The sandwich structure is then impregnated with resin.
