Abstract: A wood stain which is water-based, which is suitable for staining wood, and which is comprised of water; at least one dye selected from the group consisting of azo, diazo and triarylmethane dyes; and a stabilizing agent which is effective to reduce free iron ion concentration in the stain when in contact with an autoclave composed of non-rust resistant steel during the staining process. The stabilizing agent includes at least one buffer effective to maintain the pH of the wood stain at greater than 7.0. Alternatively or additionally, the stabilizing agent includes at least one complexing agent which forms a complex with iron ions.

Abstract: A highly fluid ink-like nail coating material has the following composition: 10-50 weight-% of an alkali-soluble polyester resin with an acid number of at least 60, 0.7-15.0 weight-% of 25% NH.sub.3 solution or the equivalent quantity of highly volatile, low-molecular aliphatic amine, 0-15 weight-% of at least one cosmetically approved acid organic coloring substance, 0-50% additive, and water in a quantity to complete the components to 100 weight-%. It can be applied onto fingernails and toenails, because of its low viscosity, by an application device having a supply container filled with this nail coating material and a wick extending from the interior of the supply container outwardly.

Abstract: A method of applying cosmetics onto skin includes applying onto the skin a pin-shaped coloring cosmetic substance containing a fat or an oil, and wetting the skin with a skin-compatible, slowly evaporating solving medium for the fat or oil of the cosmetic substance. The solving medium comprises 70-90% by weight of aliphatic saturated hydrocarbon with 6-12 C-atoms, and 5-30% by weight of at least one fat-reversing substance. A device for wetting has a container, a tampon soaked with a solving medium and accommodated in the container, a wick arranged in liquid-conducting communication with the tampon and extending outwardly beyond the container, and a sealingly closing cover removable from the container for use of the device.
