  • Patent number: 7285782
Abstract: An infrared sensor for gas metering appliances consisting of a metering chamber with an infrared source and an infrared sensor. The metering chamber is connected to the atmosphere via an anti-dust and anti-damp filter. The metering chamber is arranged in a protective housing having gas inlets and outlets. Connection to the metering chamber via a gas exchanger orifice and an anti-dust and anti-damp filter is not of a pressure-proof design based on normal pressure conditions. The infrared source and the infrared detector are integrated in the wall of the metering chamber and held therein. The infrared source is a lamp. The infrared source and infrared detector have a fail-safe power supply.

  • Publication number: 20070119452
Abstract: In filter and blower units for breathing masks or bonnets used in potentially explosive areas, the direct current motor comprises a fixed stator coil module (1) and a magnetic rotor that can be rotated around the perimeter of said module and forms the impeller at the same time. The coils (5), the terminals and electric connecting lines (7) as well as upstream motor control and voltage converter modules (8, 9) are embedded in a non-conductive casting compound (6). Power is supplied from an intrinsically safe accumulator or battery pack (15) at a voltage that is still considered intrinsically safe using a higher current value to match the required motor output. The filter and blower unit is intrinsically safe despite its high-performance rating and can be used in zone “0” potentially explosive atmospheres.

  • Patent number: 7084502
Abstract: A microelectromechanical device and a method for producing it having at least one layer on a substrate, in particular a thermoelectric layer on a substrate, the thermal expansion coefficient of the at least one layer and the thermal expansion coefficient of the substrate differing greatly. • Publication number: 20060034734
Abstract: To increase the adhesion strength of coagulated blood on a surface by increasing the surface interaction of blood-inherent components like fibrin/fibrinogen and thrombocytes it is described to treat the surface by exposing it to ionized atoms or molecules. The surface treatment according to the invention is applied on plastic disposables used in blood diagnostics (e.g. haemostasis analysis) as well as medical implants like artery sealings. The improved blood clot adhesion results in higher diagnostic security due to reduced measurement failure (e.g., for patients with increased thrombocyte content) and in better significance of special tests (e.g., hyperfibrinolysis diagnosis).

  • Patent number: 6891278
Abstract: A semiconductor component has at least one Peltier element and at least one thermogenerator element that are thermally coupled to one another via a coupling device. By virtue of the thermal coupling of the Peltier element and the thermogenerator element through the coupling device, it is possible to use the Peltier element to cool a microstructure, in particular an optoelectronic component (e.g. a laser diode). Efficient temperature regulation and efficient operation of an optoelectronic component are thus possible.

  • Patent number: 6815244
Abstract: A method produces a thermoelectric layer structure on a substrate and the thermoelectric layer structure has at least one electrically anisotropically conductive V-VI layer, in particular a (Bi, Sb)2 (Te, Se)3 layer. The V-VI layer is formed by use of a seed layer or by a structure formed in the substrate, and disposed relative to the substrate such that an angle between the direction of the highest conductivity of the V-VI layer and the substrate is greater than 0°. The orientation can also be effected by an electric field. Components are formed of the thermoelectric layer structure in which the angle between the direction of the highest conductivity of the V-VI layer and the substrate is greater than 0°. As a result, the known anisotropy of the V-VI materials can advantageously be used for the construction of components.

  • Publication number: 20040135693
Abstract: A monitoring and warning system for firefighters and individuals exposed to similar risks comprises a number of monitoring, warning and control devices (1, 9 to 16) as well as a telemetry module (17) for transmitting information to a base station and for receiving commands. All units of the system are connected in a galvanic or galvanically separated manner to a shared open or closed bus (8) and, in fact, are used either for master/master operation or for master/slave operation. The system functions rapidly and in a noise-free manner while having a low level of complexity with regard to connections and being able to be easily retrofitted with additional units, and can also be used in potentially explosive areas.
