    Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining the motion in at least two chronologically successive digital images, the digital images contain pixels which are in each case assigned coding information. Using the coding information, in a first image, at least one contour with a multiplicity of contour pixels situated on the contour is determined. Using the contour pixels situated on the determined contour of the first image, a determination of the motion is carried out with regard to a reference contour with reference contour pixels which is contained in a second image.
