  • Publication number: 20120149412
Abstract: A wireless apparatus comprising a first and second transmitter, a first and second receiver, and a control unit configured to monitor the first and second receivers and the first and second transmitters for dynamically determined information, wherein the control unit is further configured to select/reselect system, handover and adjust a constraint on a maximum allowable power level for each of the first and the second transmitters based at least in part on the dynamically determined information and at least in part on static information to control interference generation.

  • Patent number: 7876814
Abstract: A modem card includes a connector configured to be detachably connected to a computer. The card also includes electronics configured to be powered by a power supply located in the computer and to transmit wireless signals to a communications network at a transmit power. The electronics are configured to vary the transmit power such that the transmit power does not exceed a maximum transmit power. Increases in the transmit power cause a drop in the voltage of the power. The electronics are also configured to determine an adjusted maximum transmit power. The adjusted maximum transmit power is a transmit power at which the signals can be transmitted to the communications system without the voltage dropping below a shut-down voltage. The electronics are also configured to reduce the value of the maximum transmit power to a value that that is less than or equal to the value for the adjusted maximum transmit power.

  • Patent number: 7675986
Abstract: The present invention provides a technique to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAR) of multi-carrier transmission systems. A non-empty subset of the subcarriers includes “PAR subcarriers.” The PAR subcarriers have constellations obtained by reducing a constellation that is higher than binary and invariant under multiplication by ?1, so that an element is in the reduced constellation if and only if its negative is not. In this way, only one bit per PAR subcarrier is used for PAR reduction. The technique addressed in this invention multiplies a subset of the PAR subcarriers by ?1 to reduce PAR at each multi-carrier symbol transmission. A method or apparatus is operated to select the subset of PAR subcarriers to be rotated. The receiver identifies the PAR subcarriers and estimates the subcarriers multiplied by ?1 according to the reduced constellations and the received samples.

  • Patent number: 7535311
Abstract: A frequency synthesizer modulates a signal by directly modulating a signal input to a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) associated with the frequency synthesizer. The modulation signal has a bandwidth greater than a closed-loop bandwidth of the frequency synthesizer. The frequency synthesizer suppresses the modulation signal from a feedback path of the synthesizer.

  • Patent number: 7356105
Abstract: A method for providing maximum likelihood detection with decision feedback interference cancellation is provided. The method includes estimating a current symbol with previous symbol interference (PSI) removed based on estimated previous symbols. A next symbol is estimated with PSI removed based on the estimated current symbol and/or the estimated previous symbols. The current symbol is re-estimated with PSI removed based on the estimated previous symbols and next symbol interference (NSI) removed based on the estimated next symbol. This method of providing maximum likelihood detection with decision feedback interference cancellation may be used in direct sequence spread spectrum systems with relatively short block spreading, such as IEEE802.11b Wireless LAN standard, or in any other suitable systems.
