  • Publication number: 20250133373
Abstract: The invention relates to using a message modification attribute value to indicate restrictions on lines of communication that may be used for a particular device. In some aspects, a network node of a telecommunications network receives a request to deliver a SMS message from a first mobile device to a second mobile device. The network node determines that the first mobile device is eligible to receive SMS messages but not instant messages. Therefore, the network node generates a message modification attribute value indicating the communication channel via which messages are to be delivered to the first mobile device. The network node sends the SMS message to the second mobile device modified by the message modification attribute value. The second mobile device receives the message and, based on the message modification attribute value, acknowledges to use SMS communication with the first mobile device for a first duration of time.

  • Publication number: 20250024230
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein for facilitating Rich Communication Services (RCS) error messaging in a non-RCS capable network. It is determined that a first device and a second device are communicating using encrypted RCS messaging in a terrestrial network. It is then determined that the second device has transitioned from the terrestrial network to a non-terrestrial network. A determination is made that the first device has sent an encrypted RCS message intended for the second device. Based on the second device transitioning to the non-terrestrial network that does not support the encrypted RCS messaging, an error message is communicated to the first device indicating that the encrypted RCS message cannot be received by the second device.

  • Patent number: 12200018
Abstract: Methods and systems for restricting communication services over a network. The method includes detecting a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) register message originating from a specific network Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) that is included in a restricted PLMN list identified by a P-Access-Network-Information header (P-ANI). The method further includes implementing a policy to remove RCS and presence capability feature tags from a subsequent SIP register message. The lack of feature tags to Serving Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF) will prohibit triggering of Third Party Registration to different application servers.

  • Patent number: 12015912
Abstract: Disclosed here is a system and method to determine which wireless telecommunication network functionalities are impaired when using end-to-end encryption and to ameliorate the impairment of the functionality. The system receives a request from a sender device to communicate with a receiver device, where the request indicates whether the sender device is capable of an end-to-end encryption. The system determines whether the receiver device is capable of the end-to-end encryption, and whether the receiver device is associated with a functionality provided by a wireless telecommunication network that is impaired when the end-to-end encryption is used. Upon determining that the receiver device is not capable of the end-to-end encryption or that the receiver device is associated with the functionality that is impaired, the system performs an action to ameliorate the impairment to the functionality.

  • Patent number: 11582587
Abstract: A system and method of managing messages in a telecommunications network comprises: transmitting the first SMS message to a wireless device, the first SMS message including a first acknowledgement request and a content processing request; determining whether a first acknowledgement has been received from the wireless device in response to the first acknowledgement request within a first predetermined time period; in response to a determination that the first acknowledgement has not been received within the first predetermined time period: transmitting a second SMS message to the wireless device, the second SMS message including a second acknowledgement request and a content non-processing request; determining whether a second acknowledgement has been received from the wireless device in response to the second acknowledgement request; and in response to a determination that the second acknowledgement has been received within a second predetermined time period, retransmitting the first SMS message to the wirele
