  • Publication number: 20120016947
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements for arranging a distribution tree in a Peer To Peer P2P streaming system. The system comprises a bootstrapping server (10) that creates an external distribution tree based on received register messages from participating operator external clients (2, 3, 4). The method comprises the following steps: —Configuring an operator controlled node (7) to be a regular node in the created external distribution tree. Configuring the operator controlled node (7) to be a parent node for participating operator internal clients (1, 5, 6).

  • Publication number: 20110320572
Abstract: A method and arrangement in a first device present in a first local network enables the transfer of media from a media server in a second local network to a media renderer in the first local network. A connection is established between the first device and a gateway in the second local network, and the first device creates a port mapping in the gateway for the media server. The first device creates a URL including the created port mapping and a reference to media content stored in the media server and sends the created URL to the media renderer. The media renderer is able to pull the media content from the media server using that URL.

  • Patent number: 8027353
Abstract: The present invention relates to a communication system (SYS), a gateway apparatus (HiGA) and a method for allowing services of a first type provided by a communication server (IMS-S) to be provided to terminal devices (T1, T2, . . . Tn . . . TN) of a home network (CPN) independent of the fact whether the terminal devices are of a first type or a second type (IMS-based or non-IMS-based). The gateway apparatus (HiGA) comprises one or more service-specific mapping applications (AS) for adapting the control plane (SIP) used between the second type terminal devices (T2) to the control plane (HTTP) used between the gateway apparatus (HiGA) and the communication sever (IMS-S).

  • Publication number: 20110179328
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system hardware for ingesting media content in a peer-to-peer network from a data stream. The data stream is made up of a sequence of packets of media data, and each packet is identified by a sequence identifier. The method includes commencing caching of the data packets from the data stream. A missing data packet is identified using the sequence identifiers of the packets and the size of the missing data packet is determined. A portion of the memory medium is skipped to provide a skipped portion of medium having no data cached therein. The skipped portion has a size corresponding to the determined size of the missing data packet. The missing data packet is then retrieved and inserted into the skipped portion of the memory medium.

  • Patent number: 7881338
Abstract: A method of providing a selected Quality of Service for calls traversing an IP Multimedia Subsystem. A control-plane Home IP Multimedia Gateway is interposed between the IP Multimedia Subsystem and at least one non-SIP client, such that SIP signaling may be exchanged with a remote client on behalf of the at least one non-SIP client. The Home IP Multimedia Gateway identifies a Quality of Service type by reference to the SDP part of one or more SIP messages, and the call leg between the non-SIP client and a residential gateway is configured accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20110010591
Abstract: A method of controlling a play-out of media content in a UPnP network from a control point, wherein the media content has been delivered from a media server to a remote rendering device. Upon having establishing a UPnP remote access connection between the control point and the rendering device, the control point invokes a UPnP action at the rendering device, in response to a user interaction. The control point also initiates a subscription of a state variable at the rendering device, and starts a timer, which will indicate the time that has elapsed since the initiation of the subscription. The control point will regard the UPnP action as a successful action in case it recognises a predefined state variable transition, prior to the expiry of the timeout value, ors a failed action, in case no such predefined state variable transition has been recognised upon expiry of the time out value. The result of the UPnP action is provided to the user as a notification.

  • Publication number: 20110002341
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling remote access to a local gateway (302) of a local network from a remote device (300) located outside the local network. Capabilities and credentials of the remote device and of the local gateway are configured independently in an IMS core (304) for the remote access. One or more users are also authorised for remote access to the local network by adding an IMS identity of each authorised user to an IMS based ACL (Access Control List). An access request to the local gateway from the remote device will be accepted if the IMS identity of the remote device user is present in the IMS based ACL. A remote access connection can then be established by means of the configured capabilities and credentials of the remote device and the local gateway.

  • Patent number: 7856017
Abstract: An arrangement and method for relieving the traffic load on an edge node in a broadband Ethernet-based access network, which normally employs traffic separation such that all traffic is routed via the edge node. Peer-to-peer traffic between end users places a large burden on the capacity of the edge node. The edge node identifies peer-to-peer traffic and generates address conversion information for access nodes connected to the end users concerned. The access nodes identify packets forming part of the peer-to-peer connection, modify address information to conceal the address of the source end user from the destination end user, and vice versa, and reroute the packets through the access network to the destination end user without passing through the edge node.

  • Publication number: 20100312861
Abstract: A method, network, and node for distributing content across a plurality of content cache nodes to provide optimal access to the content. Relevant, e.g. popular, content is distributed as close as possible to the user or group of users that have the highest probability of requesting the content. In addition, content is relocated to caching nodes higher in the aggregation network as content become less demanded, e.g. less popular. Portions of the content are distributed in a plurality of content cache nodes, and locations where particular portions of the content are requested by users with greater frequency than other locations are determined. The content portions are then migrated to content cache nodes closer to the locations where the particular portions of the content are requested by users with greater frequency.

  • Publication number: 20100154035
Abstract: A method and nodes adapted to provide personalized multimedia services for users having registered a media player (300, 400, 401, 501, 502, 606) to a multimedia network, on the basis of the content (301, 500) read by a code reader (302, 405, 503), connected to or integrated with the media player. Content decoded from a code is used for creating or updating a user preference data record (700, 701) linked to by the identity with which the respective media player is registered. An application server (305, 402, 506, 600) being responsible for personalizing a requested service is interconnected with one or more preference databases (306, 407, 603), and one or more content databases (308, 408, 605) and/or dedicated servers (507). Upon receiving a service request, the application server, access relevant data from the mentioned nodes and assembles personalization instructions, adapted to trigger the requested personalized service in the requesting media player.
