A forged aluminum alloy contains Si: 0.10-0.25 mass %, Fe: 0.9-1.3 mass %, Cu: 1.9-2.7 mass %, Mg: 1.3-1.8 mass %, Zn: 0.10 mass % or less, Ni: 0.9-1.2 mass %, and Ti: 0.01-0.1 mass %, with the balance being Al and inevitable impurities, in which the total content of Fe and Ni is 2.2 mass % or less, the total content of Mn, Cr, and Zr is 0.20 mass % or less, the average equivalent circle diameter of an intermetallic compound is 4.5 ?m or less, and variation of distance between the intermetallic compounds in the ST direction is 2.3 or less.
