  • Patent number: 11477708
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for a user equipment (UE) to report packet switched voice call capabilities to a base station. The UE may explicitly report voice call capabilities via one or more system-level parameters that are transmitted to the base station. The base station may operate in a first radio access network (RAN), such as a 5G or new radio (NR) RAN. In cases where the UE indicates a capability for packet switched voice calls via the first RAN, one or more voice calls may be established with the UE via the first RAN. In cases where the UE indicates that it is not capable of packet switched voice calls via the first RAN, the UE may fall back to a different RAN (e.g., a 4G or LTE RAN, a 3G RAN, or a 2G RAN) for voice calls.

  • Publication number: 20220330153
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described related to a duty cycle configuration for power saving. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a duty cycle for cycling between a first power state associated with a first configuration and a second power state associated with a second configuration. In some examples, the first and second configurations may indicate a bandwidth part (BWP) configuration, restricted reception or transmission of one or more channels within the BWP configuration, or both for the UE. The UE may communicate first data traffic in accordance with the first configuration while operating in the first power state. The UE may transition from the first power state to the second power state in accordance with the duty cycle. The UE may communicate second data traffic in accordance with the second configuration while operating in the second power state.

  • Publication number: 20220256328
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure are generally directed to extended signaling protocols for multi-subscriber identity module (MSIM) user-equipment (UE) for new radio (NR). For example, certain aspects provide a method for wireless communication by a UE. The method generally includes receiving a first message from a network entity enquiring regarding information associated with a multi-subscriber identify module (SIM) capability of the UE, determining the information associated with the multi-SIM capability of the UE in response to the inquiry from the network entity, and communicating one or more messages to indicate the information regarding the multi-SIM capability to the network entity.

  • Publication number: 20220225457
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may perform radio link monitoring (RLM) reference signal measurements on a primary secondary cell (PSCell) while the UE is operating in a secondary cell group (SCG) deactivated state. The UE may perform beam failure detection (BFD) reference signal measurements while the UE is operating in the SCG deactivated state. The UE may transmit, to a master node associated with a master cell group (MCG), an SCG failure information message based at least in part on one of: a PSCell radio link failure (RLF) detection based at least in part on the RLM reference signal measurements, or a BFD based at least in part on the BFD reference signal measurements. • Patent number: 11388720
Abstract: Capability exchange enhancements include filtering and/or indexing. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines UE capabilities to be reported to a network based on one or more of: one or more enquiries from the network, received system information, a home operator policy, configuration associated with public land mobile network (PLMN) information of one or more networks, a user preference, or a service type. In other aspects, a UE may report a subset of UE capabilities for features used for the connection establishment. Following connection establishment, the UE may use an identifier to communicate a more complete set of modes of operation that the UE is currently capable of performing. Base stations of the network may share the reported subset so that the UE may avoid transmitting the subset to a target base station.

  • Patent number: 11356882
Abstract: Various techniques are proposed to enhance or expand the capabilities or usage of buffer status request (BSR) and scheduling request (SR) in new radio (NR) applications. In an implementation, techniques are proposed to extend the SR in long term evolution (LTE) baseline with additional information to help a base station (e.g., gNB) schedule faster and more efficiently. Moreover, a new BSR triggering condition is proposed to report new data based on particular events instead of being time-based. Modifications being proposed to both BSR and SR can be customized for different numerologies/transmission time intervals (TTIs). Modifications being proposed to SR can also be used to indicate a user equipment (UE) new beam selection after recovering from a beam failure.

  • Publication number: 20220150782
Abstract: Aspects directed towards Quality of Service (QoS) flow remapping are disclosed. In an example, upon detecting a mapping reconfiguration of a first QoS flow from a first data radio bearer (DRB) to another DRB, a Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP) control protocol data unit (PDU) is generated indicating that a final SDAP data PDU associated with the first QoS flow has been transmitted on the first DRB. The SDAP control PDU is then transmitted via the first DRB. In another example, upon detecting a mapping reconfiguration of a first QoS flow from a first DRB to another DRB, an end marker parameter is set in an SDAP header of a first SDAP data PDU received from an upper layer after the mapping reconfiguration indicating that the first SDAP data PDU is a final SDAP data PDU associated with the first QoS flow transmitted on the first DRB.
