  • Patent number: 5902194
Abstract: A particularly flexible soccer goal target can be formed by using a plurality of fasteners or clips to attach together a plurality of strips of netting into a target assembly. The plurality of strips of netting are fastened or clipped together, edge to edge, to form a net assembly having sufficient width and height to extend across a substantial portion of the entrance of the soccer goal. The strips of netting, which are fastened or clipped together to form the target assembly, may be easily disconnected by unclipping them at different locations of the goal entrance to provide openings in the target assembly at different positions in the goal that will serve as targets for practice. Further, both the soccer net and flexible soccer goal may be provided at their peripheries with a plurality of spaced permanently attached cord-formed attachment means.

  • Patent number: 5294092
Abstract: A quick disconnect coupler includes a seal retaining member movably mounted in a coupler housing. A sealing washer biases the retaining member toward first position, and an annular seal is mounted in the retaining member. This annular seal defines both axial and radial sealing surfaces, and it is configured to transmit sufficient force to the seal retaining member to move the seal retaining member to a rearward position in response to a first, larger diameter plug bearing on the axial sealing surface, and to form a radial seal around a second, smaller diameter plug.

  • Patent number: 5185720
Abstract: An improved memory module structure for use in a large memory in which, before operational use, the memory modules are tested and configured by a process that requires storing logical page addresses into a page register in each module. In this module, page address data are input to the page register from a data input line to the module. Since there is a separate data input line for each module in a column of such modules, and since the data input lines are not used to carry data to the memory in a test and configuration mode, the data input lines can be used to supply page address data simultaneously to the page registers of an entire column of modules. This avoids having to address each module in the column individually, and reduces testing an configuration time by a factor equal to the number of modules in a column. The complexity of each module is also reduced by obviating the need for individual module addressing in the test mode.

  • Patent number: 5103424
Abstract: A memory circuit for controlling writing and reading operations in a large semiconductor memory having multiple modules, some of which are subject to production or environmentally caused defects. Memory modules are arranged in columns and there is a column interface for each column, each module being connected to its column interface by a single-bit data line. Each column interface includes a configuration register that is used to record an association between the memory modules in the column and selected data bit positions of an external data word. The same association is used both during writing operations, wherein data words are written from the data bus to the memory modules, and during reading operations, wherein data words are read from the memory modules to the data bus.

  • Patent number: 5092597
Abstract: A solid-state flipper control circuit for controlling the operation of a pinball machine includes a flipper, a flipper switch, and a solenoid coil for controlling the movement of the flipper. The flipper switch is formed as a microswitch having a common terminal connected to a ground potential and normally-open contact terminal. A solid-state driver circuit is provided which is responsive to the activation of the microswitch for generating momentarily a first voltage on its output terminal so as to move the flipper to the actuated position. The solid-state driver circuit includes a timer for automatically disconnecting the first voltage after a predetermined time and for generating subsequently a second voltage so as to hold the flipper in the actuated position until the microswitch is deactivated.

  • Patent number: 5077390
Abstract: A substantially pure, hemagglutinin-free composition of trichosanthin, and a method of producing the composition is disclosed. A plant extract from Trichosanthes kirilowii is contacted with an anionic exchange resin to remove contaminating hemagglutinins, and trichosanthin is further purified from the extract by cation exchange chromatography to a purity of greater than 95%.

  • Patent number: 5074524
Abstract: A quick disconnect coupler includes an annular seal which is mounted in a fixed axial position to the housing of the coupler and which defines three sealing surfaces axially separated along the length of the coupler. The three sealing surfaces are configured and positioned to seal against three types of commonly used coupler plugs. In this way, an axially fixed seal reliably seals against all three coupler plugs. In one embodiment the seal defines a tiltable portion which is surrounded by a retainer ring and is free to tilt in the housing to follow tilting movement of a plug in the coupler.

  • Patent number: 4522517
Abstract: A linear capacitive encoder is utilized for detecting and encoding the position of a movable member such as a print bar in a dot matrix impact printer. An eight-phase signal is capacitively coupled to one plate of a linear capacitor mounted on the movable print bar. When the print bar moves the phase of the coupled signal changes with respect to the phase of the signal on the other plate of the capacitor, producing an analog signal representing incremental movements of the print bar. The analog signal is amplified and filtered and then converted to a TTL signal representing the position of the print bar. Present position of the print bar is compared to previous position of the print bar to derive signals representing the present direction of movement, direction change and incremental movements of 0.001". Built-in error or hysteresis is added to the direction and direction change signals to prevent false direction changes due to noise. The 0.

  • Patent number: 4219695
Abstract: Apparatus, and a related method, for use with a speech analysis system, which derives coefficient parameters by linear prediction and utilizes an intermediate correlation technique that produces a set of auto-correlation coefficients. The apparatus includes an estimate register, circuitry for comparing the contents of the estimate register with a first auto-correlation coefficient and setting the estimate register to the value of the first coefficient if the first coefficient is less than or equal to the estimate register contents, and circuitry for incrementing the contents of the estimate register if the first coefficient is greater than the estimate register contents.

  • Patent number: 4058676
Abstract: Method and apparatus for speech analysis and synthesis adapted for analyzing and multiplexing speech signals from a plurality of voice grade telephone lines for further transmission through a single voice grade telephone line. A plurality of specialized digital signal processing techniques are employed to analyze in real time four speech channels in parallel and multiplex speech frame parameters of the channels into a single data output channel for transmission through a suitable media. The received data channel is demultiplexed and the speech frame parameters for the individual channels are utilized to synthesize, in parallel, the four speech signals. Certain of the digital processing techniques utilize the characteristics of speech signals to truncate conventional signal processing time while other processing techniques are substantially statistical analyses of speech to resolve ambiguities, particularly in making the voiced/unvoiced decision for a frame of analyzed speech data.
