  • Publication number: 20220288971
Abstract: Rubber compounds that comprise rubber and propylene-a-olefin-diene (PE(D)M) polymers may be useful in tire-related articles (e.g., tire sidewalls, inner tubes, and innerliners). Such a rubber compound may comprise: about 5 phr to about 50 phr of the PE(D)M polymer that comprises about 65 wt % to about 99.5 wt % propylene, about 0.

  • Patent number: 11098185
Abstract: Elastomer compositions and, in particular, their use as compositions for forming vibration-damping devices. The elastomer compositions comprise brominated isobutylene-co-alkylstyrene, such as brominated isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene. One or more additives including a reinforcing filler, a processing aid, a scorch retarder, a curing agent, an activator, an accelerator, and any combination thereof may be included in the elastomer composition. The elastomer compositions exhibit physical properties, heat resistance properties, and long life cycle properties making their use in vibration-damping devices particularly suitable.

  • Publication number: 20210230406
Abstract: A cured elastomer comprising: an elastomer at 100 parts per hundred rubber (phr); and an expandable thermoplastic microsphere at about 0.1 to about 10 phr. Such a cured elastomer can be used, optionally with additives, in an air barrier article that is selected from the group consisting of a tire innerliner, a pneumatic tire, a tire curing bladder, an air sleeves, a diaphragm, and a hose. With microspheres the compounded cured elastomer shows a reduction in specific gravity and a reduction in permeability. Both of these properties are highly desirable in tire design and performance.
