  • Patent number: 11898580
Abstract: The confined plunging liquid jet reactor with energy recovery includes a downcomer having an upper end, an open lower end, and a gas inlet for receiving gas, the downcomer extending into a liquid reservoir in a tank. A nozzle is mounted on the upper end of the downcomer for receiving a pressurized liquid to generate a liquid jet. The liquid jet impinges on liquid contained within the downcomer, creating turbulence and bubbles to entrain gas introduced through the gas inlet into the liquid reservoir as the jet travels downward in the downcomer. A riser is disposed around the downcomer and defines an annular air lift column. Unentrained gas and liquid exiting the downcomer rises in the air lift column with significant energy, the upper end of the riser being connected to a turbine coupled to a generator to recover energy from the air lift column.

  • Publication number: 20230166063
Abstract: A ventilator includes at-least one air vessel, at-least one inflation bag, at-least one connecting member, a bag holder and at-least one controller member. The at-least one connecting member connects to the at-least one air vessel. The bag holder may hold the inflation bag. The at-least one controller member operates the at-least one inflation bag thereby changing size of the inflation bag to vary a tidal volume and an inspiration-expiration ratio of the ventilator. In another aspect, at-least one controller member is mounted on the bag holder. Further, the at-least one controller member slides within the bag holder to change the shape of the inflation bag to vary a tidal volume and an inspiration-expiration ratio of the ventilator.

  • Publication number: 20200330934
Abstract: The confined plunging liquid jet reactor with modified downcomer includes a downcomer having an upper end, an open lower end, and a gas inlet for receiving gas. A plurality of longitudinally-extending baffles and/or a sieve are mounted in the downcomer, adjacent the open lower end thereof. A nozzle is mounted on the upper end of the downcomer for receiving a pressurized liquid from an external source to generate a liquid jet. The liquid jet impinges on liquid contained within the downcomer creating turbulence and bubbles with the gas entrained therein. The open lower end of the downcomer is positioned within a receiving tank holding a reservoir of the liquid such that a portion of the mixture of the liquid and the gas exits the open lower end of the downcomer to flow into the receiving tank.

  • Patent number: 10252924
Abstract: A water stream is passed between two juxtaposed similar ion exchange membranes (AEMs or CEMs), forming an ion depletion and ion enrichment zones when an electric field is applied. As cations are selectively transferred through the CEMs, for example, anions are relocated in order to achieve electro-neutrality, resulting in the concentration drop (increase) in ion depletion (enrichment) zone. Trifurcation of the output channel allows collection of concentrated, dilute and intermediate streams, with the intermediate stream serving as input to the next stage of a serialized implementation.

  • Publication number: 20190018433
Abstract: The water conservation system for limiting water consumption during showering, the consumption levels being determined based on accepted international consumption standards. The system features a layered/hollow bathtub designed to include: a floatable, manual indicator; a sensor positioned in the bathtub's vertical wall; a reservoir for collecting water; and a waste water drainage outlet. Three different colors (red, yellow, and green) are associated with the floatable indicator to indicate the amount of water consumed during showering. An optional controlling valve automatically shuts off water flow, if the consumption rate is too high.

  • Patent number: 10125039
Abstract: The method of recycling brine from a multi-stage flash desalination plant recycles the high-salinity, high-temperature brine output from a multi-stage flash desalination plant to produce diluted brine suitable for reinjection back into the multi-stage flash desalination plant as a makeup stream. The high-salinity, high-temperature brine output from the multi-stage flash desalination plant is diluted with water extracted from treated wastewater effluent output from a wastewater treatment plant, thus providing further recycling of the treated wastewater effluent. Following osmotic transfer of the diluting water from the treated wastewater effluent to produce the diluted brine, the remaining concentrated treated wastewater effluent passes through a secondary filtration system to yield a solid product and a volume of permeate water. The volume of permeate water may be further mixed with the diluted brine.

  • Publication number: 20170144910
Abstract: The multistage aeration system includes a water jet tank system having a closed water tank that holds a pool of water and seals in air above the pool of water. A nozzle in the top portion includes air bleeder passages to allow an ambient air to flow through the nozzle and into the closed water tank. A water flow meter and a water pump circulate water from the closed water tank to outside the tank through the water flow meter and then through the nozzle. The nozzle entrains air through the bleeder passages into the water as the water passes through the nozzle, and forms a jet spray into the pool of water. An air flow meter valve and a closed water tank air outlet pipe extend from the closed water tank and connect the water jet tank system to a diffused aeration tank system with a series tank system.

  • Patent number: 9193616
Abstract: The mobile buoyant aerator has a buoyant toroidal capture tray for capturing contaminants and a large diameter tube extending downward through the center of the tray. The aerator may have air or other gas pumped down through a smaller concentric tube to exit at the bottom of the larger tube to entrain and carry contaminated water up the larger tube, capturing contaminants in the capture tray. Alternatively, the aerator may have a compressed gas tank at the bottom of the larger tube to preclude the need for a smaller diameter tube. In another alternative, the aerator has an air pump at the top of the structure to pump air down through the device. In a further alternative, the aerator has a water pump at the top of the structure that draws water from outside the aerator and pumps the water down through the center to entrain contaminated water.

  • Patent number: 9149672
Abstract: The encapsulated fire extinguishing agents include a sealed outer shell containing at least one fire extinguishing agent therein. The shell is formed of material that melts when exposed to extreme heat, as in a fire. One embodiment has a single outer shell with a single fire retardant agent therein. Other embodiments may have a second shell within the outer shell, each shell defining an interior volume containing a separate fire extinguishing agent. The agents may combine to form a more effective fire extinguishing agent when the two shells melt. The shells may be formed to melt at different temperatures. Another embodiment includes an outer shell filled with a large number of smaller capsules, each of the smaller capsules filled with a fire extinguishing agent. The smaller capsules may each contain identical agents, or two or more different agents from one another.

  • Patent number: 8956168
Abstract: The electrical outlet safety device is placed between an electrical plug and the corresponding electrical outlet or receptacle to which the plug is connected. The safety device includes a thin body portion formed of a material adapted to expand rapidly if exposed to a predetermined temperature. A series of thin, electrically and thermally conductive blades extends from the body, with the blades being captured between the prongs of the plug and the internal contacts of the receptacle when installed therewith. If excessively high electrical resistance and correspondingly high temperature are produced in one or more of the electrical connections between the plug and the outlet, the blades of the safety device transmit the excessive temperature to the body, whereupon the body is transformed to an expansive electrically insulating foam that expels the plug from the receptacle. Springs may be included within the body to provide additional expansive force.
