  • Patent number: 5320859
Abstract: A high protein dough mix for a leavened bakery product, consisting essentially of, by weight, in unflavored form, a blend of up to 20% water, 10-80% of a protein containing material selected from the group consisting of soy products, gluten, milk products, whey products, egg products and nuts, 10-80% of a sweetener, up to 40% of a vegetable shortening, up to 50% flour, and up to 8% of a leavening agent. The dough mix may be baked and served as a cookie, a muffin, a cake, a brownie, or a snack bar.

  • Patent number: 4690048
Abstract: A nutcraker comprises a pair of relatively rotatable discs (manually or motor operated) defining a space in which a nut to be cracked is directed by an upper intake chute and from which the cracked shell and freed nutmeat are directed by a lower discharge chute. The rotatable disc comprises nut-receiving recesses and projections for pushing the nut. The stationary disc comprises space-restricting components, such as a sloped surface or groove and a tapered wall, which define a space which gradually decreases in width and height. As the nut is moved through this space its shell is cracked and the nutmeat freed. Nutcrackers designed to process nuts of different sizes can be ganged together and driven by a common power source. In some embodiments the nut-receiving chamber contains components which automatically adjust to the size of a nut placed therein and releasably lock into such position. In another embodiment the two discs define several spaces of different sizes.

  • Patent number: 4549502
Abstract: Apparatus for washing animals, such as dogs, cats, or even livestock, includes an enclosure in which the animal can be restrained with only its head extending therefrom; a plurality of spray heads located within the enclosure; a plurality of adjustably positionable and movable brushes located within the enclosure; mechanism for supplying warm water to the spray heads, and for subsequently supplying drying air to the same spray heads; and mechanism for moving the brushes to effect gentle scrubbing of the animal.

  • Patent number: 4443997
Abstract: Apparatus for leaf and grass vacuuming and compaction in a bag, although usable independently is shown mounted on a wheeled carriage of a power lawnmower on which are mounted a push-handle, a gasoline engine, a lawnmower blade drivable by the engine, a vacuum chamber enclosing a fan drivable by the engine, and a receptacle bag above which is mounted a compactor having a reciprocably movable ram. The ram is driven either by a belt-drive from the engine, or by an electric motor energized from the engine generator or starter battery, or by a hydraulic pump/motor system driven by the engine. A pick-up hose is attached to the vacuum chamber inlet and a discharge hose is attached to the vacuum chamber outlet whereby material such as leaves and grass clippings entering the pick-up hose are expelled through the discharge hose into the removable bag. As the material fills the bag, the compactor is actuated to cause the movable ram member to repeatedly descend into the bag to compact the material therein.

  • Patent number: 4431118
Abstract: An attack repellant device to be worn externally by a user houses a replaccable container of repellent fluid (malodorous or irritating) which is selectively releasable to repel, discourage or subsequently identify an attacker or assailant. The container includes a portion which is breakable to release the fluid through a nozzle (or through a screen) by a pair of manually actuatable pushbutton fluid release members which can be depressed to break the container portion only after four manually actuatable pushbutton resettable trigger members are first depressed. The fluid release members mechanically interlock with each other and each fluid release member also interlocks with one pair of trigger members. The nozzle includes an optionally usable manually operable valve to prevent or terminate fluid release even after all pushbutton members are actuated. The device includes an electric safety alarm system to warn the wearer if any one of the trigger members has been unintentionally actuated.

  • Patent number: 4421251
Abstract: Motorized apparatus for dispensing cake icing comprises a hand-held power unit including a multi-speed electric motor and controls, including a trigger switch, for the motor, one or more cartridges detachably connectable to the power unit and each including a rotatable member drivable by the motor, and a collapsible icing bag having a nozzle and containing icing, such bag being detachably connectable to the rotatable member and windable or twistable by the rotatable member so that icing is extruded from the nozzle. The controls operate to cause momentary motor reversal to stop icing extrusion when the trigger switch is released. Each cartridge includes a device to prevent unwinding or untwisting of the bag when the cartridge is removed from the power unit.
