  • Patent number: 11963100
Abstract: Power management operations are performed by devices communicating using multiple bands simultaneously where a first wireless band can be used to send and receive power management control frames for use on a second wireless band of a wireless network. In this way, a device that is in a sleep or dose power management state on a first band can be instructed to enter an awake power management state on the first band based on a communication received over a second band that is currently active and receiving data. Embodiments of the present invention enable power to be conserved when a band is not currently being used, or when there is no more data available (buffered) for a specific band.

  • Patent number: 9548977
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus are provided for performing reliable network, capability, and service discovery. A method may include providing for transmission of a request for signed access point information. The request may be provided for transmission prior to authenticating with an access point when authentication is performed or prior to associating with an access point when authentication is not performed. The method may further include receiving a response including signed access point information. The method may additionally include verifying the signed access point information using a digital certificate. The method may also include selecting the access point for communication based in least in part on the verified signed access point information. A corresponding system and apparatus is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9408078
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for adapting security level between a mobile node and a mobility anchor. In the context of a method, an IP mobility binding with an indication of a security mode is established for a mobile node connected to an IP sub-network and identified in the IP sub-network by a care of address. A trigger to adapt the security mode for the mobile node connected to the IP sub-network is detected. The security mode for the mobile mode connected to the IP sub-network and identified by the care of address is adapted in response to the trigger.

  • Patent number: 6859651
Abstract: A method and system for authentication of a mobile device that includes a mobile device and a network element in a communications network. The network element may be a call state control function. If the network element detects an incorrect event related to a mobile device, the network element shortens a registration validity time for the mobile device and sends the mobile device a notification to re-authenticate. The incorrect event can be, for example, an incorrect authentication response, an incorrect action by the mobile device, a session over a time maximum, traffic generated being over a maximum, or credit run out. The mobile device is de-registered if the mobile device fails to re-authenticate within the shortened registration validity time, and re-registered if the mobile device re-authenticates within the shortened registration validity time. The registration validity time for the mobile device is extended after re-registration.
