  • Publication number: 20200287981
Abstract: A method includes receiving a request from a protocol publisher to install a protocol at the protocol database, the request including a global unique identifier (GUID) and a first protocol pointer. The GUID and the first protocol pointer are stored at an entry at a protocol database. A root key received from the protocol publisher is stored at the entry at the protocol database. A request including the GUID is received from a protocol consumer, and in response, the protocol consumer is provided with a random number. A reference GUID is generated based on the random number and the root key, and the reference GUID is stored at the entry of the protocol database.

  • Patent number: 10747526
Abstract: A method includes creating, by system firmware at an information handling system, a virtual Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) bus device. A management service event is registered by a bus device driver corresponding to the virtual ACPI bus device. • Patent number: 10534620
Abstract: Systems and methods for establishing Core Root of Trust Measurement (CRTM) for Basic Input/Output (BIOS) image recovery are described. In some embodiments, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include a processor and a BIOS coupled to the processor, the BIOS having program instructions that, upon execution, cause the IHS to: during a boot process, verify integrity of a BIOS recovery image using a CRTM, and determine whether to restore the BIOS recovery image in response to the verification.

  • Patent number: 10223129
Abstract: Methods and systems for license management using a basic input/output system (BIOS) may involve performing license activation, monitoring, and enforcement. The BIOS may store license information to manage licenses for hardware and/or software components of an information handling system. License management by the BIOS may include monitoring a system clock of the information handling system for changes to avoid tampering with license durations.

  • Patent number: 10210111
Abstract: In accordance with these and other embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may include determining whether a system management interrupt is expected to take more than a predetermined threshold duration to complete, determining whether audio data is actively streaming from a processor of an information handling system to an audio controller communicatively coupled to the processor and configured to process audio data communicated from the processor to the audio controller for reproduction to a speaker communicatively coupled to the audio controller, and executing the system management interrupt if the system management interrupt is expected to take less than a predetermined threshold duration to complete or if audio data is not actively streaming from the processor to the audio controller.

  • Patent number: 10108485
Abstract: A method for automatic correction of nonvolatile memory in information handling systems includes storing ECC data for a compressed BIOS firmware. The ECC data are used to identify and correct error bits in the compressed BIOS firmware. The discovered error bits are recorded in the nonvolatile memory and accessed for a faster correction method for the compressed BIOS firmware than using the ECC data on subsequent attempts.
