  • Patent number: 9596176
Abstract: A pseudowire redundancy network comprises a plurality of pseudowires (PW13, PW 14) attached to a provider edge node (201). For selecting an active pseudowire (PW13) to be used for forwarding user traffic, the provider edge node (201) determines a local preferential forwarding status for each of the pseudowires (PW13, PW14). The determined preferential forwarding status is active for no more than one of the pseudowires (PW13, PW14). The provider edge node (201) indicates the determined local preferential forwarding status of the pseudowires (PW13, PW14) to remote provider edge nodes (203, 204). Further, the provider edge node (201) receives indications of a remote preferential forwarding status for each of the pseudowires (PW13, PW14) from the remote provider edge nodes (203, 204). The provider edge node (201) then selects that one of the pseudowires (PW13, PW14) as active for which both the local preferential forwarding status and the remote preferential forwarding status is active.

  • Patent number: 9591515
Abstract: A method is provided of transporting data packets over a telecommunications transport network. The data packets are carried by a plurality of bearers, the bearers each carrying data packets that relate to different ones of a plurality of services. In the method, for each bearer independently of the other bearers, bandwidth profiling is applied to the data packets of the bearer to identify and mark the data packets of each of the bearers that are conformant with a determined maximum information rate for the bearer. The data packets are forwarded for transport through the transport network. If there is insufficient bandwidth available in the transport network to transport all data packets, data packets not identified by the profiling as being conformant are discarded, so as not to be transported through the transport network.

In the method bandwidth profiling is applied to the data packets of each bearer, independently of the other bearers, to identify and mark the data packets of each of the bearers that are conformant with a predetermined maximum information rate for the bearer. The data packets are forwarded for transport through the transport network, wherein, if there is insufficient bandwidth available in the transport network to transport all data packets, data packets not identified by the profiling as being conformant are discarded, so as not to be transported through the transport network.

  • Patent number: 9319323
Abstract: A method of prioritizing packets for delivery over a transport network, where a guaranteed minimum information rate over the transport network is specified. The method comprises, for each bearer to be injected into the transport network from the mobile network, specifying a bearer information rate and marking packets up to that rate as conformant with the bearer information rate, and marking packets exceeding that rate as non-conformant. Multiple traffic-type streams from the mobile network are converged, each traffic-type stream comprising multiple bearers. Packets of traffic-type streams are inspected to identify packets marked as conformant and non-conformant, and at least a fraction of non-conformant packets are re-marked as conformant if the converged rate of conformant packets is less than said minimum information rate. The transport network prioritizes delivery of packets marked as conformant over those packets marked as non-conformant.

  • Publication number: 20150131442
Abstract: A method is provided for transporting data packets over a telecommunications transport network. The data packets are carried by a plurality of bearers, and are sent over the transport network from a serving node. Information is received relating to a current capacity of the transport network. A current maximum total information rate for the serving node is dynamically adjusted based on information relating to a current capacity of the transport network. A current maximum information rate for each of the bearers is determined based on the current maximum total information rate. Bandwidth profiling is applied to the data packets of each of the bearers, independently of the other bearers, to identify the data packets of each of the bearers that are conformant with the determined current maximum information rate for the bearer. The data packets are forwarded for transport through the transport network.

  • Publication number: 20050135274
Abstract: A method of configuring link-scope-type managed objects in IP-based networks from a centralized management node. An IP-based network includes at least one management station, a set of network nodes, and communication links between the network nodes and between the management station and the network nodes. Preferably, an Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) topology graph of the network is prepared, and a set of target links to be configured is identified. The target links are then classified into N disjoint subsets, T1-TN. The links in each subset are then configured in parallel, starting with subset T1 and sequentially handling each subset one-by-one. The target links may be classified by removing non-target links that are not to be configured from the OSPF topology graph, building a LinkGraph to determine the dependencies between the links remaining in the OSPF topology graph, and building a LinkTree from the LinkGraph to classify the target links into the subsets based upon the dependencies between the links.
