  • Patent number: 11882033
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for filtering Ethernet device source addresses for loop avoidance in a cellular communications system. Embodiments of a method performed by a User Plane Function (UPF) in a core network of a cellular communications system and corresponding embodiments of a UPF are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a UPF in a core network of a cellular communications system comprises obtaining a Medium Access Control (MAC) address that is reachable over a particular Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session. The method further comprises installing, at the UPF, a filtering rule that prevents Ethernet frames having the MAC address as a source address from being delivered by the UPF via downlink on the particular PDU session. In this manner, loopback of Ethernet frames on the PDU session is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20230336489
Abstract: A method by a first node for configuring a second node to handle ingress member flows split from a flow of packets, via at least one elimination function, and one replication function. The first node and the second node operate in a communications network. The first node allocates a first indication to a first ingress member flow to be input into the elimination function. The first indication identifies the first ingress member flow as being comprised in the flow of packets. The first indication uniquely identifies the first ingress member flow from at least one of: i) a second ingress member flow to be input into the replication function, and ii) any other ingress member flow to be input into the second node. The first node configures the second node to use the allocated first indication.

Abstract: A method performed by a node, for handling one or more member streams split from a stream of frames. The node supports at least replication function and one elimination function, to process the one or more member streams. The node operates in a communications network. The node assigns an indication to a frame of one or more frames comprised in a first member stream outgoing from the at least one elimination function. The indication is the same in every frame of the one or more frames. The indication identifies the first member stream as an output member stream in the stream. The node forwards the first member stream outgoing from the at least one elimination function, identified by the indication, to another function supported by the node, or to another node.

  • Publication number: 20230056482
Abstract: A boost is provided in an overloaded system by distinguishing nodes with a “bad” traffic history from nodes with a “good” traffic history. In so doing, a core network node is able to apply additional resources to the node(s) having a “good” history in the form of a boost factor. Based on a system capacity and a working point, e.g., a critical number of active nodes with a “bad” traffic history, the core network node may determine a throughput history limit belonging to the “bad” traffic history. Responsive to expected requirements for a newly active node (i.e., a node having a “good” traffic history), the core network node determines a boost factor for the newly active node, applies the boost factor to the average resources allocated to the nodes with the “bad” traffic history to determine boosted resources, and allocates the boosted resources to the newly active node.

  • Publication number: 20220368626
Abstract: Systems and methods for packet or frame replication and elimination in a Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) network or Deterministic Networking (DetNet) network are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a node in a TSN network or DetNet network comprises determining whether to reset a sequence recovery function used for frame or packet elimination for a particular stream of packets based on either or both of an explicit indication or an implicit indication and resetting the sequence recovery function used for frame or packet elimination for the particular stream of packets upon determining to reset the sequence recovery function. In this manner, packet or frame elimination is improved by avoiding scenarios that result in discarding valid packets or frames due to an out of sync condition between the sequence generation function at the replicator and the sequence recovery function at the eliminator.
