  • Patent number: 5880722
Abstract: In a digital computer system running a windows operating system and a video editor where the video data is stored in the memory and clips of the video data consisting of sequences of video frames are represented by blocks in a workspace on the video display. A video cursor is provided to scroll through the frames. The disclosure describes a convenient method of allowing the user to control the scale of the horizontal axis and thus the number of video frames that may be symbolically viewed on the workspace window without panning. The method includes the following steps: First, determining if the video cursor is being intentionally moved vertically by a user. Next, determine the vertical distance that the video cursor is moved from a reference point. Finally, adjust the number of video frames that may be represented on the workspace in relationship to the vertical movement of the video cursor.

  • Patent number: 5267303
Abstract: An automatically created form includes a list of items in relation to which an operation can be performed. A processor creates the form in response to facsimile transmission of another form that includes a field requesting automatic creation of a form. The data defining the image of the requesting form also includes information indicating an image destination, and the automatically created form is transmitted to the indicated destination. The requesting form can be a previously created starter form that is automatically transmitted back to a fax machine in response to an image of a blank sheet or a sheet with simple marks received from the fax machine. The starter form can include a security code as well as fields with check boxes for indicating a set of items to be listed, such as recipients of facsimile transmissions or documents or forms that could be transmitted.

  • Patent number: 5060980
Abstract: A form including user modifiable fields and an encoded description of the location, size, type, etc. of the fields allows direct programming of a form interpreter. Other information including the processing of the form, encoded data, etc., may be included in the encoded information. A system for creating forms carrying an encoded description of selected attributes of the fields includes means for selecting or creating fields and locating the fields on a form while generating, substantially simultaneously, the encoded description of the selected attributes. A form composer then allows merging of the form and its encoded description for printing or electronic transmission. A system for reading such forms includes a scanner, decoding device, and processor. By reading such forms, data may be entered into or recalled from a data processing system, or a form interpreter may be programmed, locally or remotely, for subsequent handling of forms.
