  • Patent number: 12570587
Abstract: A process of converting an ethanol feed stream to ethylene comprising sending portions of said ethanol feed stream to two reactors in parallel and then sending the combined product to a third reactor that is operated at a higher temperature to prevent the formation of ethers such as diethyl ether.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 28, 2023
Date of Patent: March 10, 2026
    Assignee: UOP LLC
Inventors: Saikrishna Laxmirajam Gosangari, Manuela Serban, Ashish Mathur, Balkrishna Tope

  • Publication number: 20260001821
Abstract: A process for dehydration of ethanol to produce ethylene is provided. Ethanol is dehydrated to produce ethylene and the subsequent conversion of ethylene to longer chain olefins and then their hydrogenation to produce long chain paraffins. In some embodiments, a split feed is employed to improve efficiency and a caustic wash column is eliminated. The advantages of the process include a lower requirement for steam and a reduction in the combined reactor volume of 30-40% when two reactors are used as compared to a single reactor.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 19, 2025
    Publication date: January 1, 2026
Inventors: Saikrishna Laxmirajam Gosangari, Manuela Serban, Martha Leigh Abrams, Ashish Mathur, Balkrishna Tope, Eseoghene Jeroro, Jeannie Mee Blommel

  • Patent number: 12351763
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for the conversion of bioethanol to renewable jet fuel are disclosed. In an example embodiment, a method for converting bioethanol to renewable jet fuel includes providing an olefin process stream comprising olefins to a hydrogenation reaction zone, converting at least a portion of the olefin process stream to a product stream comprising jet-range compatible hydrocarbons, determining, in the hydrogenation reaction zone, an iso-to-normal ratio of a portion of the product stream via one or more online analyzers, in an instance wherein the determined iso-to-normal ratio fails to satisfy a predetermined iso-to-normal threshold ratio, determine at least one additive and an amount of the at least one additive to be added to the product stream, the at least one additive configured to adjust a freeze point of the product stream, and adding the at least one additive to the product stream prior to the product stream exiting the hydrogenation reaction zone.
    Type: Grant
